Chapter 162: Chapter 162: Waiting For Her Call

Rong Yan found a quiet corner during her break to check her phone and sent a message to someone via WeChat.
[Li Shengxiao, did you eat the crab roe buns? Do you want me to order something else for you? Do you have anything else in mind that you’d like to eat?]
After sending the message, Rong Yan glanced at the time on her phone.
Half an hour had already passed.
When she had visited Li Group earlier, the receptionist had mentioned he had a meeting in half an hour. He must be in the meeting by now, right?
Rong Yan thought it over and regretted messaging him at this time.
She had assumed the busy man wouldn’t reply to her, but to her surprise, a ‘ding’ sounded, and she promptly received a response on her phone.
Compared to her long string of text, the other side just sent back a simple picture.
It was clearly taken hastily.
The photo showed a coffee table; the plastic takeout box on it that once contained the crab roe buns was now empty, and next to it was some dipping sauce, a dark color that was obviously vinegar.
Had he finished eating?
Rong Yan was a bit taken aback.
Based on his assistant’s reaction, she had thought Li Shengxiao either didn’t like crab roe buns or didn’t like sour tastes.
But it was good that he ate on time.
Without overthinking it, Rong Yan’s eyelids dropped slightly, and the corners of her mouth curled up. She was about to put down her phone and go check on how Estelle and the others were doing in their conversation.
But then, Li Shengxiao’s call came through—
“Hello?” Rong Yan lifted the phone to her ear and answered. “Li Shengxiao, have you finished eating?”
“Yes.”
If he had finished eating, why was he calling her? Rong Yan lowered her eyelashes and her full red lips lifted slightly. “Aren’t you in a meeting? I thought you were in a meeting and was worrying that messaging you would disturb you.”
Her voice was soft and naturally affectionate, almost as if she was cooing at him, which softened Li Shengxiao’s heart. “I was waiting for your call!”
So he had postponed the meeting for an hour!
“Uh?” Rong Yan belatedly remembered that before she left, she had indeed said she would call him. Oh, she had been so busy that she’d completely forgotten about it.
Rong Yan’s attitude in admitting her mistake was very proper, as she immediately apologized, “I’m sorry. I got a bit caught up in work just now and forgot about it. Next time, I’ll remember for sure! I definitely won’t forget again!”
“By the way, you ate the crab roe buns. How did it taste? Was it good?”
Li Shengxiao had waited for her for an entire hour, but now felt that it had been worth it. Leaving behind a roomful of executives waiting for him, he took his phone to the window. His thin lips curled slightly and his handsome face carried a slight smile as he said, “It was okay.”
Not wanting the conversation to end, he added, “Where did you buy it from?”
“It’s just a bit to the left when you come out of your company and cross the street, called Man Ji. I read online that their seafood porridge is pretty good too. I’m not sure if it’s as delicious as the place we went to last time with Duidui,” Rong Yan said, getting unwittingly drawn into a casual chat.
Li Shengxiao felt a warm current in his chest, and his mood lifted, “Shall we try it sometime?”
Without a second thought, Rong Yan agreed, “Sure. Whenever you’re free, I can make it anytime.” “How about tonight?”
So soon?
Didn’t he have plans for the evening?
Rong Yan had just said she could make it anytime, so she couldn’t take her words back now, “Of course, that’s fine. But don’t you have any dinner engagements tonight?”
“No.”
Gu Ming, who had come in with a coffee and overheard words like “tonight” and “no,” couldn’t help but remind him quietly, “Boss, you have an appointment with Huile’s CEO to play golf tonight, and the deputy mayor has scheduled a dinner with you as well..”
