After finishing her meal, Xanthea sneaked into the bathroom and turned on her phone. Her call log was flooded with missed calls from Orion, some even in the middle of the night, which made her heart skip a beat.
She had been so worried about her mom yesterday that she hadn’t even had a moment to text him back. He must have been worried

The phone rang for a few seconds before it was answered, but the first thing she heard wasn’t a man’s voice, but a standard, fluent foreign greeting.
“Orion, huh? Where are you?”
“At the office. Orion, holding his phone, quickly walked out of the meeting room. “Xannie, how’s everything?”
“It’s fine. Mom woke up!”
“That’s a relief. And how about you?”
“Me? I’m as lively and eating well, feeling great! Now that I don’t have to see Matthew and Miranda when I wake up, even the air feels fresher
“Is that so?” He chuckled lightly. “My little crybaby, your voice sounds a bit hoarse.”
His voice, deep and slightly raspy as though tired yet relieved, made Xanthea remember how she had cried her eyes out the day before, making her awkwardly scratch her head.
Because of the events from her past life, she had indeed overreacted when her mother fainted last night.
“I was just too anxious. Hey? Orion, did you not sleep last night?”
“I did.”
“Liar! I saw the call log: you called me at night.”

“I can’t sleep alone. How about Xannie comes over to keep me company?”
His suddenly flirtatious tone made Xanthea’s face flush. “What do you mean by keeping you company?”
He wouldn’t dare suggest sleeping together, would he?
“To do some exercise with me. When I’m tired, I’ll naturally fall asleep.”

“Sure, what kind of exercise? Do I need to bring some gear?”
“Gear?” Orion’s eyes narrowed slightly, his voice suddenly becoming incredibly sultry. “Didn’t know you were into that, Xannie.”

“You want to use some gear for foreplay Exercise.”

Outside the bathroom, Ethan stopped in his tracks upon hearing her shout.
Xanthea hurried to cover up, “No, nothing, I was just practicing my ancal exercises!”

As soon as Xanthea collected herself, she heard Orion laughing on the other end, his laughter bewitching.
“Orion! Orion Lockwood!”
“Is Xannie practicing how to call my name more sweetly? There is no need.”

“Orion, if you keep being so improper, I’m hanging up!”
He immediately quieted down, and Xanthea huffed proudly, glad he listened.
