Chapter 9
After dinner, Cynthia laid down in bed, trying to recharge. For two nights in a row, she hadn’t rested well, and her head felt woozy.
Suddenly, her cell phone started ringing. It was Mason calling, Cynthia didn’t feel like answering, but the calls kept coming, one after another, as if Mason wouldn’t stop unless she picked up. It must be about the investment from Daniel that hasn’t come through yet; he’s probably panicking. Cynthia thought and pressed the answer button as it rang once more..
There was a brief pause on the other end before a rough voice bellowed out. “You deadbeat girl, you finally answer your phone!
Knowing Mason had no fatherly affection for her, Cynthia responded coolly, “What is it?”
“Get back here right now?
Cynthia retorted, “I thought you didn’t want me back?”
“I told you to keep Mr. Roberts company. Why don’t I see you obeying so well then?”
Cynthia, lying in bed, half–asleep, refused to engage in this topic.
Seeing that she wasn’t swayed, Mason had to play his trump card. “If you want the shares your mom left you, come back now.”
Cynthia’s eyes snapped open. She had planned to go back in a couple of days to discuss the will Since she had been physically drained these past two days, if there was a dispute, she would be at a disadvantage. When Cynthia went downstairs, she found the living room filled with clothes. They were all haute couture, limited edition pieces.
Cynthia recognized this brand, which wasn’t sold in stores but was exclusively tailored for the wealthy and powerful from various countries. Each piece started at tens of thousands of dollars. Filling the living room like this would amount to millions. Cynthia couldn’t help but be astonished by the generosity of her new husband.
Suddenly, her cell phone rang.
Thinking it might be Mason again, she picked it up only to see the word “Hubby” flashing on the screen. Cynthia felt a warmth spread across her face. When did this man save his number in my phone and even label it as Hubby!‘
Answering the call, she heard Liam’s deep voice. “Are you up!”
Cynthia replied softly, “Mm–hmm.”
“How it it feeling?” asked Liam.
Knowing his meaning, Cynthia found her ears burning and mumbled back, “I’m okay”
Liam chuckled lightly, no doubt picturing his new wife’s blushing face over the phone. She seemed so easily embarrassed, especially in bed, where she turned pink like a delicate blossom.
He put down his pen, leaned back in his chair, and loosened his tie, stating directly, “Come to the office then.”

Cynthia’s thoughts finally drifted back to the clothes, “I like them. But this brand is all about tailoring, and we’ve only established our relationship for one day. How did you manage to get so many clothes made so quickly!”
