Cynthia was speechless at Anthony’s baffling behavior. If it weren’t illegal, she would have dissected his brain to understand why he couldn’t grasp simple conversations.
She looked at the nearly finished dishes on the table and felt no desire to continue eating.

The knock on the door stopped abruptly and came again after a few seconds.
Arnis recognized Anthony’s voice. He asked anxiously, “Mr. Clara, did you make that sound just now? Are you okay?”
Anthony rubbed his head in frustration upon hearing the voice. “Even if I die, it’s none of your business. Can you please stop bothering me?”
“No, I’m here for you. I’ll be sad if you die,” Arnis said.
The conversation between the two men stirred speculation among the onlookers, who quietly contemplated its meaning.
Seeing that Anthony’s face gradually recovered, Cynthia thought that nothing should be wrong with him.
Taking advantage of his distraction, she opened the door directly. She feared he would start to go mad after he fully recovered, and if Arnis were gone, she wouldn’t be able to handle it alone.
Before Arnis‘ hand could come down again to knock, he saw a familiar face. “Cynthia, how come you’re inside?” he asked.
“This is the private room I booked. This man barged in for no reason.” Cynthia pointed to where Anthony was just now, and when she turned her head, Anthony, who had been in the private room, suddenly disappeared.

“It’s none of my business. He locked it,” Cynthia explained earnestly.
She knew Arnis well. He was emotional and sometimes stubborn. If he believed there was something between her and Anthony, even if it didn’t affect their friendship, it would bother her for a while.
