Kelly froze under Millie’s intense glare, which made her tremble sheepishly.

Meeting her eyes, he was at a loss for words.

Frowning, he briefly saw his mom in Millie. Millie oddly resembled the young Harriet. Soon, he brushed off that ridiculous notion.

Logan took a step forward, but she walked out from under his umbrella. He stared at Millie’s figure with complicated emotions.
Then, he heard a chime on his phone. It was a text from Ethan. “Logan, why aren’t you home yet? What did the police say? Any clue?”
Logan returned to his car with the umbrella. He replied, “Dad, she’s not our Lou.”
It took Ethan a while to reply. “Oh, another disappointment after having high hopes. I wonder how Louisa is doing. Is she even alive? Is she eating and living well?”
Feeling bitter, Logan cast his eyes downward.
