Her Perfect Life After Divorce

Chapter 52: Mr. Cassius Descended to Save Her from Chaos
Brian slowly moved in front of Gemma, shielding her.
Because he was protecting her, he took a punch head–on.
“I’ll kill you!” Marcus roared, his fury boiling over.
Brian wiped the blood off the corner of his lips and spoke coldly.
“You two are going through the divorce process. What’s with the fake sentiment now? Do you think pulling this stunt will make Gemma change her mind? Take a good look at yourself–what makes you think you have the right?”
“Hah! You said it yourself–it’s just processing. Legally, we’re still married. She’s mine!”
Brian couldn’t believe it.
“Not for long-

Gemma is free. She can choose to like me or stay away from me, and I’ll respect her decision.
But even if it’s not me, there’ll be someone else. Gemma’s an amazing woman. If you can’t see that, plenty of better men will.”
Marcus was already seething, but hearing that set him off completely. The thought of Gemma being with another man, having sex, maybe even having another child, made him want to tear everything apart.
“Brian, you’re dead!”
His fiery glare could have burned someone to ashes,
He charged at Brian recklessly..
Brian was a doctor.
He knew human weak points and refused to let Marcus gain the upper hand again.
Both men ended up battered and bruised.
Gemma, wanting no part of this, tried to slip away quietly. But as if they had eyes in the back of their heads, both men blocked her path.
That was when two men in black suits appeared, and Cassius stepped forward.
Finally, the two men stopped.
“Mr. Cassius?”
“Mr. C
Cassius!”
Both men turned toward him in unison.
Cassius ignored them entirely and addressed Gemma,
“Do you need help?”
Gemma nodded. “Mr. Cassius, could you please take me back to the office?”
These two men were clearly unhinged.
Staying far away seemed like the best choice.
“Wait!”
Normally, Marcus wouldn’t dare confront someone like Cassius.
1
But last night, he had drunk too much, vaguely saw Gemma, and ended up in the police station the next morning.
A female officer had looked at him with disdain and told him tha stalking a woman was despicable.
if he were homeless, he could sleep under a bridge, but
That’s when he realized he must have followed Gemma home, and she had called the police. He was furious.
Did Gemma really not want to be Mrs. Wilson anymore?

How could she do this to him?
He had to settle the score with Gemma
When he finally tracked her down, she was with Brian, looking cozy.
Jealousy and rage consumed him, leading to the fight..
Now, how could he watch Gemma leave with another man?
“She’s my wife. I’ll take her home and deal with her myself. No need for your help, Mr. Cassius.”
Brian gritted his teeth. “No way. Gemma is a vital part of our hospital team. There’s a meeting today, and she must stay.
Despite Cassius’s bodyguards, Brian still tried to pull Gemma back.
The bodyguards immediately stepped in, blocking him.
Cassius’s gaze sv
swept over them like icy blades, piercing straight through.

“No one stops me when I decide to take someone.”
At his words, more bodyguards appeared, encircling Marcus and Brian
Marcus, realizing the situation was against him, turned to Gemma in frustration
“You’re really that desperate to climb the social ladder, huh?
Do you honestly think someone like him would want you?
You’re nothing more than a disposable toy!
Is this how little self–respect you have? Are you that starved for attention? Pathetic/”
His drunken stupor and sleepless night had left his mind foggy, his tongue unrestrained.
The m
moment the words left his mouth, he regretted them.
He wanted to explain.
But Gemma had already turned, tears brimming in her eyes.
Her gaze stopped him cold, the words dying in his throat.
Gemma stepped forward, speaking softly but firmly.
“Marcus, I married you because I admired you after hearing your lecture in college.
When you went blind, no matter how cruelly you treated me, I endured it because I wanted to stay by your side.
For six years, I gave you a child, but I never earned your heart. Every day, I lived in your disdain and rejection. Still, I thought, after all these years together, you’d know me a little.
But now I see how miserably I failed. In your eyes, I’m nothing but disgraceful.”
Her words were like delicate needles, pricking his heart with unbearable pain
That wasn’t what he meant–he had just spoken out of anger.
But his pride wouldn’t let him apologize.
“Marcus, we’re done. Your family once helped me leave my small town, and I healed your eyes. We’re even now.” With that, she turned and walked toward Cassius.
Marcus tried to follow, but the bodyguards restrained him.
Already injured from the fight with Brian, he couldn’t struggle anymore and could only watch her disappear.
Across from the hospital was a small garden, serene with flowing streams and decorative rocks,
Gemma had taken a two–hour leave and now sat by the brook, her face full of sorrow.
“Mr. Cassius, I’m sorry you had to see that.”
The earlier scene had left her mortified.

She hadn’t known how to escape until Cassius appeared, like a savior.
“Now I owe you a favor. I’ll make it up to you someday.”
Cassius paused before responding calmly.
“You’re not as terrible as he says.
Gemma blinked, surprised, and looked up at him.
Cassius’s expression remained indifferent, as if nothing in the world could faze him.
Yet his words carried a warmth, like a spring breeze.
“That man is trash. Don’t waste your energy on him.
If you want, I can make sure he never bothers you again.”
Gemma shook her head
“The cooling–off period is almost over. I don’t want any complications now.”
Cassius nodded.
After a moment, he added.
“Also, just call me Cassius.”
Gemma was startled but then smiled. “I didn’t think you’d care so much about titles.”
Her mood lightened, her attention shifted
“Thank you, Cassius. And for the record; I don’t think I’m terrible. I’m just angry.”
Marcus’s words had humiliated her, their marriage, and the six years she’d invested. She smiled faintly, gazing into the light. When her eyes met Cassius’s, something shifted. Their gazes locked.
