Her Perfect Life After Divorce

Chapter 13: Gemma, You’ll Regret This
Her words left Alijah frozen for a moment.
Even Mabel looked surprised.
“Gemma, you’re giving up your own son just to play stepmom for someone else’s kid?”
At this, Alijah’s eyes instantly turned bloodshot.
“I knew it! You betrayed Dad! You’re the worst! How could I have such a terrible mom!”
Noah wanted to step in, but Gemma held him back, shielding him behind her.
Looking at her son, a deep sorrow gripped Gemma’s heart.
“That’s why I’m stepping back, so you can find a mom you actually want.”

Her voice was cold, utterly devoid of warmth.
The ley tone froze the tears at the corners of Alijah’s eyes.
“Enough of this nonsense.”
A sharp, familiar voice came from the crowd.
Gemma didn’t even need to look to know who it was.
She knew returning home would mean running into him–just not this soon.
“Still in the cooling–off period, and already looking for your next target?”
Marcus’s face was stormy, his very presence like a brewing tempest,
His icy eyes flicked to Noah.
A clear warning flashing within those eyes.
But Noah wasn’t the least bit intimidated. He planted his hands on his hips and glared right back, baring his teeth like a feisty pup ready to bite,
“Perfect timing, Mr. Wilson.”
Gemma blocked out the venom in his words and cutting straight to the point.
“Please keep young Mr. Wilson in check. He’s causing trouble wherever he goes.”
Marcus’s expression darkened further.
“What did you just call Ali?”
He took a step forward, grabbing Gemma roughly by the arm. “Ali is your son!”
In his fury, his grip was iron–tight.
Pain shot through Gemma, cold sweat beading on her forehead.
“Mom only loves me! Mom won’t care about anyone else! She’s not my mom!”
When Gemma didn’t spare him even a glance, his frustration boiled over
He turned and ran, tears streaking down his face. Mabel quickly chased after him.
Gemma, still clutching her throbbing wrist, met Marcus’s furious gaze.
Her voice was calm but devoid of warmth.
“You see that? He doesn’t want me. Why should I stick around where I’m not wanted?”
Noah, momentarily stunned, finally reacted.
Like a little wolf cub, he lunged at Marcus, clinging to his arm.
“Let her gol”
“You’re hurting her! Let gol
Marcus, still fuming, had no patience for this strange child.
Chapter 1: Gemma, You’ll Regret This
Instead of letting go, he moved to push Noah away.
But Noah sank his teeth into Marcus’s arm with all his might.
The sharp pain snapped Marcus out of his rage, and he finally released Gemma.
Even so, his icy demeanor remained.
“You brought this kid to the hospital just so I’d see him, didn’t you?”
“Did you really think I wouldn’t figure out your little scheme? Who does he belong to? Some patient who asked you to babysit?”
Rubbing her reddened wrist, Gemma silently cursed this asshole a million times.
Her silence only seemed to confirm Marcus’s suspicions.
“Coming back early from abroad–because you couldn’t bear to be apart from me, right? And now, since you can’t swallow your pride and apologize, you drag some kid here to rile me up?”
“Boring tricks.”
He let out a string of cold laughs.
“If you quit your job now and promise to be a proper housewife, I might just give you another chance.”

Without Gemma in his life, things had gotten chaotic lately.
He missed the peace of their past marriage.
If she was ready to admit her mistake, he wasn’t entirely heartless.
Gemma couldn’t help but laugh at the sheer audacity of this egotistical pig.
“If I remember correctly, we’re legally divorced, aren’t we? My life is none of your business.”
She took Noah’s hand, a sharp smile on her lips.
“Or are you having second thoughts, Mr. Wilson?”
Marcus’s fury flared.
“Gemma, if you walk away today, don’t even think about coming back to beg for my forgiveness!”
Gemma smirked. “Forgive you? Why would I waste my time on a rotten apple like you? Save yourself for Ms. Johnson–she’s not picky about what she eats.”
With that, she strode off with Noah in tow.
Noah kept glancing back.
Gemma, that i

rotten apple is steaming madt
She couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing.
“Don’t use that kind of language.”
Noah clapped his little hands over his mouth, but his mischievous eyes twinkled
A muffled voice came through his fingers.
“I need to rinse my mouth–I don’t like dirty things either.”
Gemma laughed even harder.
This kid really was her little ray of sunshine.
What she didn’t notice was Alijah hiding around the corner. Watching their cheerful departure, his small fists clenched tight.
Gemma checked on her patients and returned to her office, where she ran into Brian Read, who had just returned from advanced training.
touch.
He handed her a form
“I was just looking for you.”
Gemma glanced at the paper. It was about a medical forum.
These events happened regularly, but this one was special–it was national–level, and only the best of the best were eligible to participate.
“You want me to make a copy?” she asked, confused.
Brian chuckled softly, his tone warm.
“I want you to team up with me for the forum. If we do well, we’ll get to assist the department head more often.”
“Huh?” Gemma couldn’t believe her ears. “Are you sure I’m up for it?”
“I heard about the new techniques you developed during your overseas training. They’re practically miraculous. That alone makes you stand out from the crowd.”
“Brian, you’re flattering me. I’ll be counting on you to guide me. Hopefully, we can get good results together.”
Brian smiled faintly, his voice even gentler. “I’ll take your kind words to heart.”
He paused.
Then, he lowered his voice.
“By the way, I heard you had a rough time with a patient today?”
Although the incident earlier had been dispersed, rumors were already flying.
Many speculated that Gemma was trying to get between Mr. Wilson and Mabel, which was why trouble had come knocking.
Gemma waved it off.
“It’s nothing, just some people talking without engaging their brains first.”
“As long as you’re not affected.” Brian hesitated, then offered, “It’s almost time to clock out. Want me to give you a ride home? We can discuss the details on the way.”
Before Gemma could decline, Noah, who had been quietly reading nearby, suddenly dashed over.
“Yes, yes! Let’s go! Gemma, I’m about to turn into a disinfectant–soaked pickle here.”
Brian raised an eyebrow at the familiar way Noah addressed her. “A relative’s child?”
Gemma froze, unsure how to explain Noah’s unique background.
His family was way too special.
