Aveline turned and left. Sitting at her workstation, she still felt a bit dazed.
Just a meal?
That was simple enough.
Making him a bowl of cereal could be considered a meal too.
Aveline chuckled, feeling more relaxed than she had in a long time.
Soon, it was time to leave work.
Aveline packed her things and headed out. When she reached the company entrance, she saw that familiar luxury car.
She had seen this car in the morning at Selena’s apartment complex, obnoxiously honking its horn.
Aveline fell silent.
She was annoyed by it in the morning, but now she had to get in it at night.

Aveline glanced around and noticed many colleagues were still around. She took out her phone and muttered, “Wow, the ride-
hailing service is so fast.”
Then she walked towards the luxury car
Those nearby who heard her didn’t think much of it.
Aveline got into the car, but when she saw Lucas lowering the window, she immediately grabbed his hand. “What are you doing?”
Lucas looked at her coolly. “Am I a ride–hailing driver?”
Aveline said, “Lucas, please be sensible. Our relationship shouldn’t be known to the public. If it becomes public, trouble will keep
coming. Can you just leave a little peace in my life?”
She was indirectly saying, “Can you act like a decent person, please?”
Lucas gave her a half–smile. “Beg me.”
Aveline fell silent.

She was a strong woman, able to adapt and rise to any challenge.
So, she took the challenge and said, “Please, I beg you.‘
She looked at him without blinking.
Lucas released his hand and started the car, driving off immediately.
Aveline let out a sigh of relief.
Was it her imagination, or was Lucas more reasonable today?
Aveline decided not to dwell on it and asked, “What do you want to cat?”
Lucas replied, “Let’s go to the supermarket first.”
Aveline paused. “You want to go grocery shopping with me?”
Lucas’s voice was low and magnetic. “It’s not like we haven’t done. it before.”
Aveline’s expression grew distant as memories of him before he regained his memory flashed in her mind..
He used to go to the supermarket with her every day.
If she came home late, he would still make dinner, even if it tasted awful.
But when she ate, he always had a proud look on his face, seeking praise, and she couldn’t help but pinch his cheeks.
Back then, he was like an affectionate, handsome little puppy.

They went straight to the supermarket near Maple Garden.
Aveline pushed the cart while Lucas tossed anything he saw into it.
When Aveline saw him throw in a box of condoms, her expression changed. She immediately took it out and put it back on the shelf.
“Lucas, watch what you’re putting in!”
Lucas glanced at her and picked it up again, tossing it back into the cart. “This is for my use. Why did you put it back?”
Aveline’s expression turned cold. “We agreed it was just for a meal.”
Lucas gave her a mocking look. “Do you think this would be used on you?”
Aveline’s breath caught.
She suddenly laughed at herself.
