Chapter 162
“The trade runner from last night has woken up V. Doctor Saki told me to inform you. I had no idea who she was referring to at first but put two and two together very quickly as I noticed Dylan’s posture change drastically.
“Clarke is awake? Is he ok?” The nurse turned to the queen and frowned slightly, unsure wether to answer her question or not, in the end Dylan’s stare held nothing but command which in turn triggered the woman into answering.
“He is stable but was hurt pretty bad. It’ll be a while until he has his full movement back, and he must be extremely careful not to split his stitches, he needed a lot of them. He is awake and talking now though… I figured V would want to see him.” Dylan shook her head and looked at the nurse in disbelief, then turned to me with nothing but determination on her face. This girl really was going to stir up the peace that had been built here.
“I’m going to see him!” It wasn’t a question that she was asking, no she was telling us what she intended to do. I could tell by the look in her eye and the tone in her voice that she had no intention of taking orders from anyone sat in front of her.
“There is still too much to discuss with you your grace.” She shook her head and looked the counsel woman who had
spoken in the eye.
“Do you intend to kill me?” She was met with pure silence, I thought we had already answered that one. “If not, then are you going to lock me up?” Again she was met with silence, she held power here, wether we all knew it or not. The way she stood her ground to a bunch of strangers was incredible. “Right, so if I’m not being killed and I’m not being held captive, then I should have the right to come and go as I please…” She had a point. If we weren’t going to do anything then she should be able to do as she pleases, only that paved the way for complications in the future. “I will go and see Clarke, the question is wether any of you intend to try and stop me.”
I had overheard the wolves talking more than once, about how Dylan must have been chosen to be queen for a reason, now seeing her stood in front of me, I truly believe she was chosen. She might be just the person the world was
waiting for.
“Very
well, you may go and see your friend, however…” If Dylan did intend to stay then she had to pay her way just like everyone else by doing things around camp, and after speaking to her it was very clear she would do best within the council, much like Lewis. “Usually, one of us would have visited the man for questioning, but I think it should be you to make the report personally. Any objections?” I glanced around the long table to be met with a few sneers but mostly nods of agreement. It was clear to me that everyone else believed her to be a natural too. “I think it should also be ou to attend to the Van, and see to it a new one be sent out, it was after all your idea to swap the license plates.” Again mumbles of agreement sounded throughout the tent and a sigh left Dylan’s mouth. It was fairly obvious that we were
trying to test her.
She eyed me up while I shifted slightly under her gaze, I found her somewhat intense, there was just nothing behind her eyes, I knew the girl had been through so much, but people who force themselves not to feel anything were dangerous.
Eventually she nodded as her mind began to wander, probably thinking of how she was going to organize what need to be done. A minute went by of her eyes darting around slightly in thought, when she finally met mine once more.
“Does this place have a map?”
This girl was definitely going to stir things up.
