When they returned to the house, Rosalie felt an overwhelming sense of familiarity. Although she initially didn’t want to move back, she no longer feared the place because Justin was here with her.
The thought of how she used to live with Steve here, and he was no longer around but with Theodore, made her so sad she wanted to cry.
She and her child were clearly in the same city. She could, by right, visit him anytime she wanted. However, she couldn’t rid herself of the disappointment she was feeling without Steve by her side.
He was her biological child, her flesh and blood. As his mother, how could she not miss him?
Sensing Rosalie’s sorrow, Justin hugged her tight. “What’s the matter? Are you not happy?”
“No, I just miss Steve. Steve lived here with me and his cot is still in my room. It makes me think of him.”
“I’ll help you keep the cot, alright? We’ll take it out when Steve comes back here. Otherwise, you’ll get upset each time you see it.”
Rosalie nodded. “Okay.”
Justin moved the cot out of Rosalie’s room and shifted it to another room.
He then walked out and said, “What do you want for dinner? I’ll cook for you.”
Rosalie thought back on how she first met Justin. “Do you still remember you forcing me to cook for you?”
“That was in the past,” Justin said as he wrapped an arm around Rosalie’s shoulders. “From now on, I’ll be the one to cook for you and be your house husband.”
“Househusbands are supposed to sit back and enjoy life,” Rosalie said jokingly. Justin pondered for a moment. “I want to be your househusband.”
He bit her ear playfully.
It made Rosalie blush all the way to her ears. For some reason, his words made her bashful, thinking that it might hide another meaning.
“Alright, darling. Let’s not fool around anymore. Tell me what you want to eat and I’ll prepare it.”
“I love eating whatever you cook. I’m not picky.” She would enjoy eating even instant noodles that Justin cooked.
“This little piglet is rather easy to rear,” Justin said as he caressed her head.
Rosalie pouted in feigned anger. “I’m not a piglet! How dare you insult me!” “Just look at that pout, I could hang something on it,” Justin said as he pinched her lips gently. “Are you really that mad?”
“I am,” Rosalie said, deliberately being ornery. “You’re a big fat pig!”
“Isn’t that great?” Justin said with a chuckle. “A big fat pig and a little piglet, what a match made in heaven.”
The two of them bickered like children. People in love can’t help but become immature, saying sweet nothings to each other.
“Quick, go make dinner for me!” Rosalie looked up and instructed, as if she were a queen.
“Yes, Your Highness.” Justin held her hand and kissed the back of it hard. He then bowed like a gentleman and entered the kitchen.
Rosalie took her laptop out and sat on the couch. She rested her laptop on her lap and punched on the keys, continuing the book she was writing. She wasn’t even done with the introduction.
Writing something from scratch was always difficult. She clearly knew
what she wanted to write, but
whenever she tried to start, she
couldn’t do it and didn’t know where
to start.
Looking at the man bustling around in the kitchen cooking for her, Rosalie shut
her laptop and hugged her knees, looking silently at him.
If only time stood still at this beautiful moment, she thought.
She suddenly realized that her love for Justin felt weightless. When she loved Theodore, she had to love him secretly, not daring to show ber feelings to him.
But now, with Justin, things were different.
She could boldly declare her love for him and he responded in kind to her, calling
her his darling. They bickered childishly and called each other piggies.
Oh yes! The smile on her face faded when she remembered something very serious.
Justin had never said that he loved her. She had been the only one declaring her love for him, which he accepted. He had never said that he loved her back. Rosalie pouted once more.
Why didn’t he say it? Did he forget? Or did he not want to say it? Or did he find it unnecessary?
Although she knew that Justin loved her back, she wanted to hear it from him.
