“I got blinded by money. I’m sorry, Thalassa. Just forgive me this once…” Daryl pleaded with a mix of urgency and guilt.
“I never want to see you in Starhaven again!” Thalassa turned her gaze away, refusing to look at Daryl anymore.
Especially since they were colleagues before, had a decent relationship – that’s what hurt Thalassa the most. Being betrayed by a stranger was one thing, but being persistently persecuted by someone who claimed to be a friend cut much deeper.
As soon as Thalassa finished her sentence, Daryl tried to say something, but David stepped in, blocking her path, and said sternly, “Please leave. Are you going to book your own ticket out of Starhaven, or should I arrange someone to do it for you?”
David’s words weren’t a threat; they were a clear indication of an order about to be carried out.
Daryl, taken aback, gave David a quick look and realized he was taking Thalassa’s words as a direct command. She knew arguing with David was futile.

“Mom, don’t take that lady’s words to heart. She’s just jealous,” Atticus Sinclair tried to comfort Thalassa, worried she might be upset.
“I know, I’m okay, don’t worry,” Thalassa responded gently, patting Atticus’s head.
She really didn’t take Daryl’s words to heart. After years of struggling from the bottom up, she had heard it all.
If she took every harsh word to heart, she would have been overwhelmed by her own anger long ago.
Daryl’s malicious intentions were her own, and Thalassa refused to let them affect her.
