Hertha, aside from her relationship with Alaric, had been involved with a man named Spencer. But that relationship fizzled out after a few months. Angelina’s heart skipped a beat. She quickly gathered the papers and stashed them in a drawer, masking her shock with a smile. “Oh, nothing, just got caught up in a document. I was so focused I didn’t hear you…”
Beatrice walked over, eyeing her curiously before glancing at the drawer and reaching to open it. “You’ve stepped back from the company, what document could possibly have you this engrossed? Let me see.”
Angelina’s heart raced, fearing Beatrice would discover the secret. She grabbed Beatrice’s hand playfully, “Mom, it’s nothing, just a little personal hobby of mine. Let’s go out for dinner.”
Beatrice chuckled at her coaxing, “Look at you, all grown up and still secretive about your hobbies.”
