Chapter 1654Alaric grabbed Hertha’s hand, ready to lead the way.
Hertha yanked herself back, shaking off his grip with a look of disdain. “Oh, please, let’s just go by
ourselves. If you come along and start acting all high and mighty, we’ll have to babysit you the
whole time, which will ruin our appetite.”
With a laugh, she looped her arm through Thalassa’s. “It’ll just be us girls, free and easy. We can
chat about whatever we want. How great is that?”
Alaric opened his mouth to protest, but Hertha cut him off, “Zip it, will you?”
Alaric: “…”
She called him delicate, and he couldn’t even argue back?
As Hertha and Thalassa took a few steps, Hertha suddenly paused, turning to address Callum still
lounging on the sofa. “Mr. Gordon, you should head back. Thalassa will ring you up once her
designs are ready. No need to swing by her place.”

His eyes, gleaming with a hint of mischief, flitted between Thalassa and Hertha, clearly hoping for a
free meal.
Thalassa was about to say something when Hertha quickly interjected, “Mr. Gordon, it’s a girls’ night
out. We’ve got loads of girly stuff to talk about. Boys will just cramp our style.”
With the conversation steered that way, Callum and Alaric didn’t have much choice but to back
down.Callum gave Alaric a look, chuckling, “Mr. Falconer, after you.”
He gestured for Alaric to lead the way.
Alaric, clearly annoyed, just glanced at him and left on his own.
“Enjoy your dinner, I’ll be off then.” Callum bid Thalassa goodbye and made his exit.
Finally free from the guys, Hertha, smiling reassuringly at Thalassa, took her arm, and they headed
out together.
The night was alive with neon lights, and the food truck area was bustling with activity.
Around six or seven in the evening, it was peak time, and the place was jam-packed.

People of all ages were gathered, sitting around, chatting and laughing heartily, enjoying their meals
without the stiff formalities of high society. It was all about doing whatever felt right.
Hertha poured Thalassa a beer, her voice bubbly and uplifting. “Thalassa, forget about men. Aside
from continuing the family line, they’re not much help to women. We can live just as fabulously on
our own. Let men be like leaves in the wind.”
Thalassa knew Hertha was trying to cheer her up. Even though she hadn’t mentioned a word about
the news, Thalassa knew she had seen it.
She understood her current turmoil.
Lifting her beer, Thalassa accepted Hertha’s comfort. “You’re right. I should focus on my career.”
With that, Thalassa tilted her head back, downing the beer in one go.The bitter taste, mingling with a hint of sharpness, flowed down her throat to her heart, making it
sting with a sort of numbness.
The pain in her heart seemed to settle into a calm.
“Exactly! You’re making waves in the jewelry industry. Stick with it, and who knows? In a few years,
you could be a world-renowned designer, raking in millions, if not billions! Then, you’ll have your
pick of men,” Hertha said with a grand gesture, full of boldness.
Thalassa smiled, not replying, but reached for the beer bottle to pour herself another.
The two of them drank merrily, each drowning their sorrows in alcohol.
Unbeknownst to them, from the moment they started drinking, they had caught someone’s attention.
After about two hours of drinking, their senses dulled, Hertha and Thalassa leaned on each other,
staggering down the street.
