I heard that the video of Arnold interrupting the wedding was posted online and the whole internet mocked him. The company also faced a crisis because of it. Now, Arnold is busy negotiating partnerships and no longer has time.
to bother me.
Kayla was also exposed by netizens, with everyone jokingly calling her the “vicious vixen” and “so–called ideal
woman.”
I’d been so swamped with work that I hadn’t had the time or energy to think about the past.
After the meeting ended, I strode back to my office.
Christian was sitting there with a stern face. “Do I have to be here so that you will finally eat?” Feeling guilty, I jumped into his arms. “No, no, I’ve just been really busy lately.”
He chuckled quietly, but when I noticed, he quickly turned his face away.
Under Christian’s watchful eye, I finally put my phone down and started eating.
Halfway through my meal, my assistant knocked and entered.
“Ms. Pena, there’s a gentleman downstairs who wants to see you. He says you know him.”
I took the business card and saw it was Arnold.
I casually tossed the card into the trash. “Kick him out and make sure he’s never allowed in again.”
The assistant nodded and left.
When I looked up, I found Christian staring at me with a look of longing. When he saw I noticed, he quickly leaned in closer and rested his head on my shoulder.
“Riley, what’s so great about that guy? Isn’t this ‘young man‘ enough for you?”
“Show me your abs, young man.” I teased, stretching my hands out toward him. “I’ll have a change of opinion
then.”
His face immediately turned red and his voice was a little hoarse. “Stop it, we’ll continue about this at home.”
I laughed uncontrollably. When he realized I was just teasing him, he ignored me for a while. It took quite a bit of coaxing before I finally got him to speak again.
The sunlight streamed through the window and Christian looked out thoughtfully.
“Once we’re done with all this, let’s go on a trip together. I want to see the snow mountains with you.”
Even if I return broken and bruised, there will always be someone behind me, mending the pieces.
I nodded firmly, looking forward to the future.
