After a couple of minutes, he steps back and turns to me. You don’t have to worry. There is nothing wrong with her. She just seems exhausted.

Positive, he replied. Try not to wake her up. She really does need the rest.
I nod my head. After another bow, he leaves the room.
I’m left with a suffocating silence. My thumb caresses her hand before placing a kiss on the back of her hand. I needed skin contact. I craved it with everything that I was.
We were idiots, don’t you think? For the first time since I shifted, Knox’s voice was soft, and it lacked its usual arrogance and self-assurance.
