I watched him silently, waiting for his next move. I knew a storm was brewing. After years of knowing each other and seven years of marriage, from school uniforms to wedding dresses, I had always thought we would walk the same path. “With your filthy hands, do you think you deserve to touch her?” His gaze was fierce, and he spoke through clenched teeth. I realized that if ! weren’t pregnant, he might have strangled me.
But I overestimated my significance in his heart. The next moment, he pinned me to the sofa, his large hand tightening around my neck, squeezing the last bit of air from my chest.
I felt dizzy, darkness closing in, my hearing fading. He was mad. “You think being pregnant means I can’t do anything to you?”
“A bastard, you really think I care. Emma’s dead, don’t worry, you’re next along with that brat in your belly.”
The fear of suffocation made me try to call for help, but my throat was too tightly squeezed to make a sound. I understood then; Ryan Carter truly wanted me dead.
