She regretted it! She regretted it more than anything else in life and Mika sure had a lot of regrets.

Every night, Mika had been clouded with nightmares instead of dreams. She would wake up drenched or mostly in tears but whichever way she did, she would
ll have to cry herself to sleep again.
She had to indulge in so many things to help her clear her guilt but nothing ever worked. They were all temporary fixes.
One time, she became addicted to drugs. For the number of minutes or hours that she was high, she would forget her pain and her sin but once the drugs cleared out of her system, she would be back to her guilt–ridden self.
The only person who helped her through that moment was Rowan. He never asked, never questioned her about whatever happened. She tried to tell him one time but Rowan stopped her. He said it didn’t matter. She owed Alexander her life but she owed Rowan more than that.

After getting over the drugs, she tried to get over her messed up life with sex. She had a whole lot of it but nothing seemed to fill the void in her heart. Even in all of these, she was grateful to be alive. That way, she could live miserably for the rest of her life as she finds a way to pay Rowan back for what happened to him and Alexander for what she did to him.
Now, she tried to get involved in art, and even though it wasn’t as effective as it was supposed to be, it was calming.
Just then, Alexander came back into her life like a storm that could wreak havoc. That morning, when Mika woke yet another nightmare, she hadn’t expected to see Alexander standing at the gates.
Neither did she expect him to stop her and talk to her after what happened between them.

“Both you and I know exactly why Rowan had to leave. What did we do to help him? As his brother, how can you be so relaxed when you know exactly what happened to him?” Mika asked him.

leave then?”
“Can’t you come with me?”
Mika asked, tugging at his shirt.
“No! I can’t leave here. Mother believes if Rowan doesn’t come back, I’ll be next in line for the throne and she doesn’t want me to jeopardize that for anything,”
“So, you’re choosing the throne over me,”
“You’re one to talk. Look at yourself, you’re choosing Rowan over me,”
Mika shook her head. Despite knowing what happened, Alexander could still say such a thing.
“I don’t care, Alex, I’m leaving, you can come with me if you want or not. It’s really your choice but I won’t sit here and watch you take the same throne that fucked Rowan up over and over again,”
“It wasn’t the throne that messed up with him. It was your father wasn’t he? Do you think Rowan would welcome you open hands? Won’t he be filled with disgust at the sight of you?”
He was right. She had thought about that and would even be glad if Rowan would kill her out of hatred.
She picked up her bag from the floor.
“If you walk out of this place, Mika, I’ll be forced to reject you,”
“If I stay back here, you’ll lose me,”
Alexander scoffed, not believing her words. She knew there was no way he would let her go easily. She looked at the door and before she could hold the handle, Alexander had locked the door.

“Give me the keys, Alex,” She asked gently.
“You’ll have to kill me first before you get those keys from me,”
Mika was stubborn, hotheaded and persistent and so also was Alexander. Her mother used to joke about how they could fit so easily as mate but in reality, it was a hazard.
His stubbornness got Mika mad. How could he try to stop her, despite knowing what happened to Rowan?
“Give me the keys,” She asked again.
“Why are you so desperate to go to him?” He asked. Mika could see the pain in his eyes and she understood that but nothing prepared her for what Alexander said next. “Uhn, do you love him? Are you that desperate to fuck him? is that it?”
That was the moment when everything went out of hand. They struggled for a while before Mika brought out a knife. It was just to threaten him but one thing led to another and she stabbed him.
A light knock came to her door, pulling her out of her thoughts. Mika stood up, unlocked it, and saw Gideon waiting on the other side of the door.
“Is everything okay?” Gideon asked.
Mika shook her head. “No,”
“Do you need me?”
She looked up at him. “Yes, please,”
Gideon walked in and kissed her the way she wanted so she could forget everything for the next few minutes.
