A Film Queen of Two Worlds

Chapter 417
It was as if the director’s words had been a trigger. The moment the loudspeaker announcement ended, the dark clouds pressed lower, the wind howled fiercely, and fish began leaping uneasily from the water. The entire scene grew dark and suffocating.

Crack! A sound rang out.
The generator in the distance shut down, and the cameras, which had been emitting a red glow, all stopped working. The livestream screens went dark.
“Huh? What happened? Why did the screen suddenly go black? Did they lose signal?”
“It’s the typhoon. I just heard the director announce it over the loudspeaker, telling them to evacuate.”
“Yeah, I checked the location of the island earlier. There’s a typhoon warning. If the reports are accurate, it’s a Category 10. That’s deadly.”
“Is a Category 10 typhoon really that bad?”
“Are you pretending to be ignorant? A Category 10 typhoon has wind speeds of 24.5-28.4 meters per second. It’s classified as a storm that can uproot trees and destroy buildings. That tiny island doesn’t even have shelters, and it’s in the eye of the storm, surrounded by the ocean. If they get caught in it, the consequences will be disastrous. Simply put, if they don’t leave, they’re as good as dead.”
“Oh my God, is it really that serious?”
“Ahhh, I’m so worried about Milly and Charlie! Why did the director’s team wait so long to announce this? What were they doing all this time?”
‘They might be okay, just an ordinary person and a new actor. No big deal. But if something happens to Matthew and Stephanie, the director’s team will be in big trouble. Matthew is the second son of the Burnetts, and Stephanie is the newly adopted daughter of the Lloyds.”
“I’m so glad my William and Ms. Hannah left earlier.”
The livestream chat was flooded with comments, but the director’s team was too busy to pay attention.
They were in the control room, frantically trying to manage the situation.
It wasn’t that they were slow to act, they were abroad, where information wasn’t as timely as it was back home. The island’s remote location meant many alerts didn’t reach them, which left them with no time to prepare.
“Where’s the boat? Did the yacht make it over? Send more boats if you have to, but get everyone back!” Director Cameron commanded sharply.
“Well … “A nearby staff member hesitated. “We got the news too late. Most of the boats had already retreated. We only managed to contact one yacht. But don’t worry, it’s on its way. It should be able to bring everyone back.”
Director Cameron drummed his fingers on the table in frustration. “I hope so. We can’t afford any mistakes…”
With the island’s generator damaged, the loudspeakers were out of power, and there was no way to communicate. The participants had turned in their phones to the production team, leaving them cut off and at the mercy of the elements.
At least they knew the yacht was coming. As long as everyone got on board safely, they could return before the typhoon hit.
On the island, everyone was stunned by the sudden turn of events.
George was the first to react, analyzing the situation calmly.
“Since Director Cameron said the yacht is here, we should head to it immediately. Leave everything else behind and get on the boat.”
Milly nodded in agreement. “Yes.”
The most important thing was to stay alive. Nothing else mattered.
“Look, there’s the yacht!” Dakota shouted excitedly, pointing it out to everyone.
Sure enough, the yacht was docked where they had initially boarded. It wasn’t hard to find.
At that moment, the wind started picking up significantly.
George shielded Milly. “Let’s go, get on the boat. The typhoon is getting closer, and it’ll take some time for the boat to leave. We need to hurry. If we get caught in the typhoon at sea, it’ll be even more dangerous.
Milly nodded. “Okay!”
Stephanie didn’t need convincing. She had gone to great lengths, making all sorts of plans just to live a better life. If she lost her life now, what was the point?
For the first time, the group united, running toward the same goal. Fortunately, the boat was large enough, providing ample space once they boarded.
The captain saw them and immediately started the return journey, not wasting a second.
Everyone on board was breathing heavily, relieved but still shaken by the near-death experience. However, they knew that true safety would only come once they reached the shore.
The yacht sped forward, but the sea was rough due to the strong winds, causing it to sway violently. Milly, already prone to seasickness, felt even worse.
George noticed her pale face and moved to support her, gently patting her back, trying to ease her discomfort.
His scent was comforting, and just being close to him made Milly feel a lot better. She nestled closer, burying her head in his chest, inhaling his cool, crisp fragrance.
George let her snuggle in, not caring if his clothes got wrinkled, his eyes full of tenderness.
This was the first time she had relied on him so much.
She was independent, strong, and powerful, but right now, in his arms, she was vulnerable. Though his thoughts were inappropriate given the situation, he couldn’t help but feel happy.
If only it could always be like this…
Without the cameras watching, he wanted to hold her like this forever, even until death.
Besides the joy felt by the masked George, Stephanie was also thrilled.
She looked at the darkening clouds and the increasingly turbulent waves with trembling excitement. She had thought her plan was doomed, but now things had taken a sudden turn. The raging sea was right beneath them, and in her pocket was the poison that could kill Milly instantly…
Everything was perfectly aligned, just waiting for the right moment.
It really was effortless!
Stephanie smirked, struggling to stand as she approached Milly. “Milly, can I talk to you alone?”
Milly ignored her, but George looked up and answered for her, “Get lost!”
A flash of contempt and malice crossed Stephanie’s eyes. Damn it, this Charlie was really in the way!
