William, standing nearby, couldn’t take it anymore and pointed angrily at Matthew. “Are you out of your mind? You misplaced it and started blaming others. Do you think everyone wants your trashy manuscript?”
Matthew clenched his fists, his chest heaving. “I had the manuscript in my pocket before I came here, but when I woke up, it was gone. It must have been stolen here.”
William sneered. ‘Stolen? There are so many people around. Why are you only accusing my boss?”
“No one else would do it besides her!”
“You!”
William, who was short-tempered, was ready to lash out again, but Milly quickly stopped him. She stepped in front of Matthew and asked calmly, “Where’s your evidence?”
Matthew sneered, “Stephanie said that just now, you were the only one in the room. No one else was there. If it wasn’t you, then who was it?”
Stephanie stepped forward, looking innocent and pitiful. “Milly, that manuscript is really important to Matthew. He stayed up for several nights to create it. Please give it back to him!’

Matthew immediately stepped in front of Stephanie, glaring at Milly. “Why are you bullying Stephanie all the time? Tell it in my face if you have the guts!”
Milly was amused by his reaction. She looked at him coldly. “Do you think that I’m afraid of you? I’ll say the same thing. You accuse me of taking your manuscript, but where’s your proof? Without any evidence, I can sue you for slander.
‘Yes, I was alone in the room for a while, but I didn’t take your manuscript. If you don’t believe me, you can ask Director Cameron after the show. There’s a live camera in the room. Everything is recorded.”
Matthew fell silent.
Right, this was a live show. There were cameras everywhere. Even if I didn’t see it, the audience would. Milly wouldn’t joke about something like this.
“Then how could my manuscript just disappear?” Matthew asked urgently.
Milly glanced at Stephanie, who looked visibly uneasy, and smirked. “You should find out about it then.”

Suddenly, Matthew squatted and coughed violently either from his anxiety or frustration.
Milly still cared for him and she couldn’t let him die here.
She went to the side poured a bowl of herbal medicine, and handed it to him. “Drink this. It’ll make you feel better.”
Milly was taken aback when Matthew pushed the bowl away forcefully, spilling the hot liquid on her hand, and burning it red.
Matthew didn’t notice what he had done. He looked at Milly and sneered. “Don’t act in front of me.”
William was furious at his ingratitude. He grabbed Matthew by the collar. “How dare you! Boss went out of her way to get those herbs for you. Without her, you’d be dead by now!”
Matthew turned his head away and snorted. “I don’t need it.”‘
“You!”
Milly quickly pulled William away and looked at Matthew indifferently. “Whatever.”
She had done all she could and said all she needed to say. If he died, it wouldn’t be her responsibility.
‘Did Matthew lose his design manuscript?’
‘It seems so from their argument. As a design student, I know how hard it is to come up with a good design. Losing it would be devastating! Especially if it’s for a big competition!
‘Can’t he just draw another one?’
‘No way. A design isn’t created in one go. It’s a collection of many small inspirations. It’s hard to recreate from memory!’
‘No wonder Matthew is so upset. It makes sense!
‘But he was blaming others unfairly. Milly is the one being wronged here!
‘Yeah, for some reason, it seems like Matthew is targeting Milly on purpose. Did she offend him somehow?’
‘Matthew is a famous designer. If she offended him, she might lose all her resources in the fashion industry!
People started commenting on the live broadcast.
Just then, Charlie suddenly appeared behind Milly.
Before she could react, he grabbed her wrist. He frowned deeply when he saw her scalded hand.
Milly’s tough demeanour disappeared as soon as she felt his cold presence.
