Chapter 365
Tate’s Mansion.
Danny looked over at George, noticing how pale he had gotten. It was only when George took off his coat that Danny saw his white shirt was completely soaked with blood – it was a shocking sight.
“Mr. Tate, let me get a doctor right now,” Danny quickly offered.
George took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing the pain, and interrupted Danny, “Hold off on that. We must figure out why the Ghost Sect is suddenly going after Milly. What’s her tie to them?”
It was strange for the Ghost Sect to suddenly recognise Milly as their leader. Was it just by chance, or was there a plan behind it?
Dealing with the Shadow Palace and the Ghost Sect, it was well known that they needed a leader. So, how come they’re now pointing to someone as their leader?
There was definitely something they were missing.
Danny looked worriedly at George’s wound but, seeing his determination, complied, “Of course, Mr. Tate.”
Just as Danny was about to leave, George stopped him again. “Wait, there’s something else you need to do.”
Danny stayed put. “Go ahead, Mr. Tate.”
“Contact Bonnie and tell her to slot the variety show ‘Untamed Horizons’ into our schedule immediately. I’ll talk to the director later, and we’ll start shooting tomorrow. Make sure Milly is on time.”
Danny was surprised – start filming tomorrow?
It seemed so hurried.
A wilderness survival reality show like ‘Untamed Horizons’ usually needed more prep time than other shows. First, they had to scout locations thoroughly to find a remote wilderness area safe for the cast.
Plus, all the other artists in the show needed to have their schedules sorted out in advance. If things were rushed, some might not be able to join.
“Mr. Tate, this schedule seems really tight…
“I…
George looked outside; the day was already bright, a soft breeze bringing the sun’s warmth – the weather was perfect.
“No, this show has the Tates’ backing. I’ve already checked all the locations, and there will be no problems. As for the artists, those who’ve committed will show up, and those who can’t will be replaced. Indeed, we can find replacements in this vast entertainment industry, right?
Seeing George’s firm stance, Danny simply nodded. “Got it, Mr. Tate, I’ll take care of it immediately.”
The door closed with a ‘bang,’ leaving George alone in the cool room.
What Danny had said was somewhat off base. It wasn’t critically important to kick off the show’s filming right away, but there was a twist-
The Scathings family is indeed a threat.
At the factory gate earlier, Lucius kept his cool, not openly showing any intent to snatch the person in Jordan’s arms. He seemed chill on the surface, but his possessiveness was loud and clear!
It was the kind of possessiveness a man has towards a woman!
His borderline obsessive possessiveness was painfully obvious, and it was clear as day that Lucius would go to any lengths driven by his selfish wants if it involved Milly. So, steps needed to be taken to keep Milly safe.
The best bet was to bring her into the crew.
Filming for these kinds of variety shows usually lasts three to four weeks, often in a secluded spot for safety and to give Lucius a chance to work on his issues.
While the Tates and Scathings weren’t exactly tight, the older folks had shared some intense experiences in the military. Even if they didn’t precisely like Lucius, handling him was still delicate.
But it was only a matter of time.
Anyone with bad vibes towards Milly, whether it be Lucius or the Ghost Sect,
wouldn’t get off easy!
Milly was jolted awake by her phone’s relentless ringing.
Ding ding ding! It was super annoying.
Groggily sitting up with a headache pounding, Milly squinted to spot where her phone was and picked up without even glancing at the caller ID, irritatedly blurting out. “Hello, who’s this?”
“Milly?” Bonnie’s voice came through with a hint of disbelief, “Milly, you’re still asleep?”
Milly’s eyes shot open.
Listening closely, it was Bonnie. She quickly sat up straighter, ignoring her headache, and softened her tone, “Oh hey, Bonnie, yeah… I had a few drinks last night and just woke up. What’s up? You calling out of the blue, is everything alright?”
It could be some big news.
I couldn’t remember getting involved in anything significant recently!
Bonnie sounded relieved to hear she was okay, “All’s good. I just wanted to inform you that Untamed Horizons, the reality show we discussed, starts filming tomorrow. I’ll swing by first thing in the morning to pick you up, so be ready.”
Milly hadn’t entirely caught up yet, “Wait, so soon? The production team didn’t give us a heads-up, and now it’s happening?”
Bonnie confirmed, “Yep, it’s pretty last minute. Some celebs who were supposed to be on dropped out because of their schedules, so we had to replace most of them. Luckily, you’re available, so we’re all set.”
Milly voiced her concerns, “What about my school, though … “
Since getting hurt and ending up in the hospital, Milly had taken some time off school and hadn’t returned to classes. Joining the reality show now would mean a substantial commitment. Would the school be cool with that?
Bonnie anticipated her worry and reassured her, “Don’t worry about school. I’ve already talked to the school admin, and they support what you’re doing. Plus, we’ll get top-notch professors to tutor you one-on-one, so you won’t fall behind academically.”
Milly was genuinely surprised. So, they had my back.
“Who else is joining? Should we check Twitter first and say hi?”
“Nope. Let’s not sweat the small stuff. We don’t need to play those games for a reality show. You’ll meet them when filming starts. The final lineup isn’t set yet, but I heard it’ll be four celebs and three non-professionals.”
Non-professionals …
Usually, non-pros on these shows have some hefty connections behind them, something worth watching.
