Chapter 362
Nimbus looked at George standing there and felt he knew him from somewhere, but he couldn’t quite figure out where they’d met before.
Behind George, Danny caught sight of Nimbus and let out a surprised tongue click. Looks like Mr. Raiden and Mr. Nimbus from the Ghost Sect were both in attendance. If that’s the case, the only one left had to be the First Sect Master, right?
If it really was the First Sect Master, then things could take a severe turn. The First Sect Master was known for being very traditional and strict.
The Ghost Sect and Shadow Palace had bumped heads more times than one could count, and everyone knew the First Sect Master had a serious reputation across the four branch sect.
Luckily, Scarface had always been our go-to guy in Shadow Palace, so their cover was still safe.
Even though Nimbus guessed what these folks were after, he played it cool, saying, “Hey, what brings you guys here? We don’t have any beef with each other, right?”
That’s when George finally stopped eyeballing Milly for a second and snapped, “Let my people go!”
Before Nimbus could reply, an obviously drunk Raiden, leaning on him, became visibly upset and blurted out, “Who are these people with you? Why should we let them go? No way! Hmph!”
George squinted at this, and the mercenaries behind him pointed their guns at Nimbus.
On the other hand, Raiden seemed utterly unbothered, saying, “Hmph, pointing guns at me? Thinking of shooting? Ha! Do you really believe I’m scared… hic!… Scared of you? Not today! Today, I’m not the same person I was! Because …
As he talked, his face, already red from drinking, turned even redder, showing a mix of embarrassment and strange pride.
“Ha, you know why? Because I’ve got someone on my side now! Ha, my sect leader. We’ve finally found my sect leader!”
Danny’s eyes popped wide open, shocked by the news. They’ve actually found a leader for the Ghost Sect.
Oh no…
Before, they could take advantage of the Ghost Sect’s inner turmoil, but with a leader in place, it meant they were united and much more challenging to deal with!
George looked seriously troubled but kept quiet.
Clearly tired of the small talk, Lucius waved his hand dismissively and said, “Look, it doesn’t matter if it’s a sect leader or a janitor. Just get rid of them straight away. No need to beat around the bush!”
Despite looking young, something in his gaze felt ice-cold and ruthless, making everyone around feel a chill just by catching his eye.
As he was about to signal to attack, Raiden, who was half-drunk and barely awake, suddenly yelled, “Sect Leader, we’ve got trouble! Someone’s messing with us! You gotta handle this!”
Everyone felt an uneasy tension in the air, causing them to instinctively back off.
They all became extra cautious around this mysterious group leader, with Danny quickly moving to stand protectively before George.
Then, an unmistakable voice filled with
authority asked, “Who? Who dares to mess with my guys right under my nose?”
Danny, George, and Lucius were all left speechless.
Milly was totally caught up in rolling dice, all in to show off her skills in gambling. She was so into the game that she completely missed the new faces showing up outside.
At first, she was all about staying sharp and avoiding any drinks so she could keep her focus. But as the game went on, getting props from Raiden and Nimbus, she relaxed a bit more. And just like that, it became a habit.
There she was, wine in hand, her hair all over the place. Her expressive eyes, usually so lively, now looked a bit glazed and far-off. Her cheeks were a bit rosy, and you could catch a hint of alcohol when she talked, which added an innocent charm to her.
Staggering, she blurted out, “Who’s messing with my buddies, Little Raiden and Little Nimbus? To mess with them is to mess with… hic… me!”
Even though her words were slightly slurred, she intentionally pointed to her nose with her thumb, confident about her resolve.
Danny looked at her, completely taken aback, his face a picture of disbelief. “Ms. Milly … “
How did Ms. Milly end up leading the Ghost Sect?
Milly wasn’t paying him any mind. She lazily scanned the room until her gaze settled on George, sparking a noticeable change in her demeanour.
Suddenly, she launched herself at George, hugging him tightly, her hand wandering from his chest to his stomach. “Well, hello there, good-looking.
“Hey, what age are you hitting this year? You’re good-looking. Are you single? Is someone you’re into, or is there room for me in the picture? Is there a chance for an addition, even if there’s someone?”
Despite being drunk and making little sense, she didn’t hesitate to ask.
George looked down at the girl, slightly drunk, in his arms. There was something more intriguing about her than usual, even with her drunken state. Her eyes clearly showed she had no idea who he was.
She couldn’t recall him.
George suddenly looked really cold.
Even though Milly had been drinking, she wasn’t so out of it that she didn’t know what was happening around her. Her instincts for self-preservation kicked in the moment she felt something wasn’t right. She tried to turn and move away, but just as she managed to take a step, she was yanked back by someone’s firm and strong grip.
“Just stay still, okay?”
Trapped in a stronghold, Milly felt like she couldn’t breathe. Already upset, she was about to lose her temper completely.
But then, she looked up and recognised the face before her, and in front of everyone, she couldn’t help but hold back her words.
Her eyes lit up as she gazed firmly at George, saying, “Well, look who it is, handsome! Running into you here, what are the odds?”
George was speechless.
Drunk, obviously!
He figured arguing with someone who’s had a few too many was pointless. He looked around briefly before saying, “Come on, we should head home.”
But to his surprise, the drunk person just stood there, sulking, “Nope! I refuse, I … hic … won’t leave. You haven’t given me an answer yet. Do you like someone, huh?”
