A Film Queen of Two Worlds

Chapter 358
Nimbus was different from the type that backed down quickly.

He gently rattled the dice cup in his grip, making a sound that filled the room.
Raiden had all eyes on him, watching the dice like his life depended on it.
After a bit, Nimbus stopped and showed everyone what he got, “Two fours and a one.”
It was a good roll.
Milly grinned, saying, “Hey, not bad at all.”
Nimbus kept calm, saying, “Thanks for saying so, Master.”
Observing the sect’s new leader shower Nimbus with unexpected praise, Raiden’s intense drive to come out on top sparked a wave of dissatisfaction within him. In a bold move, he grabbed the dice cup right out of Nimbus’s grip and threw out a challenge with a hint of arrogance, “Is this the best you can do? Hmph, watch me roll three sixes in a blink, Master. You believe I can, don’t you?”
Milly cocked an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. “Alright, let’s see if you can actually deliver.”
With a challenging glare, Raiden rattled the cup energetically, taking a moment before forcefully setting it on the table. “Bet on three sixes!”
The air was thick with anticipation.
Milly couldn’t contain her laughter as she taunted Raiden, ‘Ha ha ha, Raiden, you’re just not making the cut! A four, a three, and a one – you’re doing even worse than Nimbus!’
Worse than Nimbus.
Worse than Nimbus.
Worse than Nimbus.
Raiden remained still, the term “worse than Nimbus” lingering in his consciousness. Nearby, Eileen and Anna couldn’t help but laugh gently as they stood beside Milly, something they usually wouldn’t dare to do.
Their recent change in status, however, gave them confidence. They were now under the protection of the Ghost Sect’s newly appointed leader.
Raiden’s laughter turned into sheer embarrassment, feeling like his dignity was being stomped all over. With a surge of determination, he pushed up his sleeves. “Hold on, this can’t be happening, I want a redo!”
Milly just shook her head, a mix of amusement and pity in her eyes. “Tough luck, Raiden, everyone gets only one chance.”
Raiden started to object, “But… “
He stopped mid-sentence, a new thought striking him. With a mischievous grin, he said, “Hold on a second, you haven’t taken your turn yet. What if you end up rolling lower than me?”
Milly raised an eyebrow. “No way!”
Looking unfazed and somewhat amused, Milly gave the dice cup a confident shake and, with a quick movement, laid out three red sixes!
The jackpot roll!
“Boom, three sixes! Guess you’re up for drinking, Raiden.”
Raiden could hardly believe his eyes as he looked at the dice. “No way, this can’t be happening. How’d you pull off getting three sixes in one roll!”
Milly just shrugged and gestured towards the dice. “Maybe it’s just luck, or do you think I’m cheating?”
You could see Raiden’s complexion go from shock to embarrassment, and he finally caved, “Alright, I’ll drink.”
Milly smiled and quickly nodded to a girl nearby. “Fanny, could you top him up?”
“Sure thing, Miss,” Fanny responded.
“I got it!” Raiden quickly filled his cup again and chugged it.
The alcohol, which was all low-proof liquor, didn’t affect anyone quickly, not even Raiden, who drank it fast.
But at this rate, it would take a very long time to get them drunk
Raiden put his cup down with a thud. “Hit me again!”
Milly looked intrigued. “How about we make it interesting? Lose the next round, and you’re downing two cups. Deal?”
Always ready for a challenge, Raiden shot back, “I’m in. Let’s do it, I’m not scared!”
The first hints of dawn crept into an expensive room at a private hospital’s VIP section, casting a soft glow on a man’s refined, sharp features.
His intense gaze never left the laptop screen, where a middle-aged official, visibly sweating buckets, was rambling about the company’s sales performance over the last six months.
“Mr. Tate, to cut to the chase, we’ve seen a more than ten per cent boost in our sales compared to the latter half of last year. Pretty solid, if I do say so myself. But yeah, e-commerce is eating into the traditional market a bit, so it’s no surprise some of our products aren’t flying off the shelves like before.”
George’s expression cooled significantly, sending a chill down the spine of the sales manager caught in the webcam’s gaze.
After a night of no sleep and a cocktail of nerves for this video call, the poor guy was hoping for a better reception from the CEO.
This isn’t good. Will he even survive this meeting?
He’d be out if it weren’t for the fat paycheck and the hefty year-end bonus dangling like a carrot from Tate Group. No way he’d put himself through this torture otherwise.
Just when the team, in a collective panic, began discreetly looking up funeral services on their phones, Mr. Tate, gaze shifting towards the window and clearly more annoyed than angry, decided to break the tension.
“Okay, got it. Danny will fill you in on any other details later. Let’s wrap this up for now.”
The sales manager wiped the sweat off his forehead, feeling relieved. He was sure Mr. Tate was going to blow his top this time, especially with how steamed he seemed.
But, weirdly enough, Mr. Tate didn’t utter a single word. Even weirder? Mr. Tate couldn’t shake off his dissatisfaction despite the sales numbers going through the roof. Bizarre, indeed.
George snapped his notebook shut, the sound sharply cutting through the quiet of the hospital room. It was enough to jerk Danny out of his light doze. “Mr. Tate, all done with your meeting?”
George didn’t reply, his expression unreadable as he grabbed his phone from the side to check it.
Nothing. There was not a single new message or notification.
“What a scammer!” George spoke with a chill.
Here she had been, brazenly asking for George’s number, yet no calls, messages, or even adding him on Venmo.
What was the point? To take up space in his contact list? And after claiming she wanted to get to know him better, should we leave it at that? What a joke.
Still trying to shake off the sleep, Danny struggled to grasp what was happening. Hearing Mr. Tate call someone a scammer, he was momentarily confused, thinking maybe Mr. Tate got one of those calls. “Mr. Tate, did you get a spam call or something? Do you want me to get tech support to put a blocker on for you?”
