The Billionaire Heiress Strikes Back Novel

Chapter 81
Who is she?
Meghan’s POV
“So she is leaving the country?” I muttered thoughtfully. “Are you sure of this?”
“Absolutely. The information came from a very reliable source. The location is still unknown but with the items I sent her, I am very certain she wouldn’t even think of coming back ever,” he said.
I didn’t want to raise my hopes based on assumptions.
“Ryan said you were the best in the field, which is why I gave you this job. While I do not know why you chose to scare her instead of just killing her right away, I am going to trust your expertise,” I said.
He chuckled darkly. “Fear is a powerful weapon, Ms. Meghan. If she runs, she’ll always be looking over her shoulder. Always afraid. That kind of torment is far worse than death.”
I tilted my head, studying the man in front of me. He was efficient, meticulous, and disturbingly calm. Ryan trusted him, but I had my doubts. If Veronica was truly leaving, then my problem was halfway solved. But I couldn’t take any risks.

“I suppose you are right. You are sure she will leave immediately after seeing that?” I asked.
“You have my word, miss. If she stays, then I will take her out,” he

Chapter B
That was her stupid name. As if dealing with Veronica was not torture enough. I had to deal with this thing as well. It’s so infuriating how she just appeared out of nowhere to get cozy with my fiance.
Did she know he had an ex–wife he couldn’t get over? Did she even know about me? I took a long sip of my drink.
I close the page and called Carter instead. He didn’t answer and I decided I was going to call him until he eventually answered the damn phone.
I called seven times and at the eighth time, I couldn’t reach him anymore. He blocked me.
“News flash, handsome, I can order a hundred more phones and get as many SIM cards as I want just to call you,” I muttered, picking my second phone.
I called him again but he didn’t answer. At the second attempt he blocked. me again. I guess he knew it was me.
I went online and called him again. He blocked me and I took my sweet time to create another account.
Three accounts later and then calls, he unblocked and called me.
“What the fuck is your problem? What part of leave me the fuck alone do you not understand?” He barked. He sounded really angry.
“I know, love but I just… I just can’t get over the fact that you are angry with me. I wanted to tell you that I would start the Livestream now and tell everyone the truth. I’ll tell them that you didn’t hit me, that I faked it all. Please babe, forgive me,” I pleaded.
“You don’t get it, do you?” He growled. “It is over! Over! If you could put me in jail for something I didn’t do, there’s no way you can’t stick a blade

in my neck anytime you feel like!”
I swallowed the bitterness rising in my throat. He was so damn ungrateful. After everything I’d done for him, everything I’d sacrificed, he had the audacity to talk to me like this? Like I was the villain?
I took a shaky breath, letting a soft sob escape. “Carter, I get it. I know I messed up. But you have to understand, I was desperate. I was scared of losing you.”
“You already lost me, Meghan,” he spat. “And there’s nothing you can do to fix that.”

A cruel smirk curled at my lips as I leaned back in my chair, twirling at strand of my hair between my fingers. He thought he had a choice. That was adorable.
“I guess you’re right,” I murmured, keeping my voice low and regretful. “But… it’s not just about us anymore, is it?”
Silence.
I could practically feel the tension seeping through the phone. I let the moment stretch, let the weight of my words sink into his stubborn, thick
skull.
“Meghan,” he said slowly, warningly. “Don’t.”
I bit my lip, feigning hesitation. “But it’s truc, Carter,” I whispered. “I’m pregnant. You’re going to be a father. Are you just going to leave our child?”
“I am so sick of this blackmail. I have told you a million times that I will take care of the child but I will never marry you!” He spat.
“So I should just get an abortion then? Because I’m not going to raise a child outside marriage!” I stated.
“Maybe you should. That would be a huge relief,” he retorred.
“I am going to start the Livestream now and I am going to apologize like I told you but I will also add that you do not wish me to keep the baby. Even though you know abortion is risky, you would rather I take my life than take responsibility for your actions,” I said.
“What is your problem, Meghan?” He groaned. “Why are you so bent on ruining my fucking life?”
I let out a soft chuckle, tapping my nails against the glass of whiskey in my hand. “Oh, Carter, darling,” I murmured, savoring the way his frustration thickened in the silence. “You ruined your own life the moment you decided to walk away from me.”
“You’re insane,” he hissed.
I sighed dramatically. “Call it what you want, but the truth remains, you’re stuck with me. And this baby. Whether you like it or not.”
“I don’t believe you’re pregnant,” he snapped. “You’ve been using this bullshit for weeks now, but where’s the proof, Meghan? Where’s the fucking proof? We need to do a fucking paternity test.”
I swallowed, gripping the phone tighter. That was a complication I hadn’t fully prepared for. I had kept up the ruse for weeks, long enough to keep Carter tethered to me, but I needed more time, time to figure out my next
move.
“You’ll get your proof soon enough,” I said smoothly, regaining control. “But for now, let’s not test how far I’m willing to go. You know I’m capable of doing anything.”
Chapter 81
His sharp intake of breath told me he understood the threat beneath my words. “You’re a fucking nightmare,” he muttered.
I smirked. “And yet, you can’t escape me.”
“You’re disgusting, Meghan,” he growled. “You think you can hold this over my head forever? You think I’ll just give in and marry you?”
“Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow. But eventually, Carter… you’ll have no choice.”
“You’re delusional,” he spat. “And I swear to God, I’ll find a way to get out of this. You won’t win.”
The line went dead.
I stared at my phone, my smirk slowly fading. He thought he had options. He thought he could escape.
But I wasn’t going to let that happen.
No.
Carter was mine.
And if I had to destroy everything he cared about to keep him, then I would.
Now that Livestream, I needed to look pitiful enough. A few facial injuries wouldn’t hurt.
So I picked the glass of wine and slammed it hard against my face with all my might until the glass shattered.
