Sienna Vaughn finally seemed to process what I said, but she thought I was exaggerating. She probably had no idea that Liam Prescott’s company existed only because of my support. Maybe she thought losing me was just losing one big client.

I also called in one of my trusted assistants and instructed them to look into acquiring Liam’s company. “If we need to use certain strategies, so be it. This is business,” I said with a shrug. By the end of the day, I was completely immersed in work, and the chaos of the past few days felt distant. And yet, a thought struck me–I could finally take a break.
