Chapter 5
My stomach rumbled.
Antonio handed the soup to Kiana and looked at me. “Kiana has a stomach bug. Why don’t you exchange your food?”
I didn’t respond, and Kiana said, “I threw away my food, but the rubbish bag is clean. Why don’t I take it out for Grace?”
“Then I’ll buy another meal for you…”
Before Antonio could finish his words, Kiana interrupted, “Antonio, can you accompany me to my examination before you do that for Grace? I’m afraid of the blood draw.”
It was already noon when Antonio was back. His eyes flashed with a glimmer of guilt when he saw the fast–food container on the table.
“Sorry for being late. But none of this would have happened if you hadn’t told my parents about Kiana. Just stop giving Kiana a hard time.”
I felt injured but didn’t explain.
“I’ll stay at home to take care of you for some time. The doctor said the first three months are critical. Do you think it’s a boy or girl?”
It was rare for Antonio to talk about the baby to me. Maybe it was out of guilt.
“Do you like kids?”
“Very much,” he answered with sparkling eyes.
I didn’t know that before. Now, my heart ached more.
Chapter 5
Antonio was about to say more when a nurse rushed over.
“Are you Antonio Kaufinan? A woman named Kiana Lester ran to the rooftop for no reason. She seems to be in low spirits. You should go see what’s going on.”
Antonio ran out right away and didn’t notice that he had ripped out my IV by accident.
When I walked out of my ward, I saw Antonio carrying Kiana downstairs.
He glared at me when he walked by.
“Grace, I didn’t expect you to do such an awful thing.
“You lied about Kiana being married. Then could I say the baby in your belly isn’t mine?”
As he said that, he saw my hand bleeding. He seemed to realize something and knitted his brows.
My attending heard what he had said and walked over to explain it, but Antonio carried Kiana away without turning around.
I knew that it was time to say goodbye and start over.
I took the things that I had packed up and moved into a rented apartment.

After Kiana fell asleep, Antonio remembered that my attending seemed to have something to tell him.
Thus, he went to the doctor’s office, only to learn that I had left.
“She’s pregnant. How could she be so willful?”
“Pregnant? She was hit by a heavy object and wasn’t sent here in time, so
the baby was lost. Didn’t you know that?”
“What?” Antonio punched the desk, the veins on his fist bulging.
He trembled despite himself and stared at the doctor in disbelief.
The doctor managed to calm down and gave Antonio my medical charts and examination results.
“You can see for yourself.”
Glancing through the papers, Antonio couldn’t help but step backward. Meanwhile, he shook his head repeatedly and said with tears in his eyes, “It’s impossible. These are fake!”
Before the doctor could say another word, Antonio stormed out and headed home.
