Wait for the wind to come novel

Chapter 3
After that phone call, I just sat in the living room waiting for him.
During those brief fifteen minutes, I thought about many things.
I remembered how the day after marrying James, I received a friend request from Yvonne. She introduced herself as James’s childhood sister who lived abroad and couldn’t attend our wedding, so she could only congratulate me on my marriage this. way, apologizing repeatedly. At that time, I had no idea she was James’s unforgettable first love, and I just politely replied with a thank you.
Later, when I learned her true identity, I realized how pitifully slow I was sometimes. But for some reason, I didn’t delete her or mention this to anyone. Perhaps I didn’t love James yet back then. People naturally enjoy watching drama unfold, so I observed everything with detached curiosity, wondering what Yvonne might do next.
Disappointingly, she did nothing. Instead, James and I grew
closer.
Often, I felt James probably liked my compliance and quietness. But that was all. He was no longer the wild youth from Christmas, and he could never love me the way he loved Yvonne.
That night, I waited for James to return, but he never did. There were no messages or calls either. I called him several times, but no one answered. Starin ___________ in my contacts, I almost

James might walk all over me, but everyone around him probably wished he would move on to someone better as soon as possible.
The day James returned, I was packing my luggage.
He pushed the door open, exhaustion evident across his features, weariness filling his eyes.
Rubbing his forehead as he walked toward the living room, he said, “Sorry, I’ve been busy with some things lately and couldn’t look after you…”
Halfway through his sentence, he registered the scene before him and fell silent.
I paused what I was doing and said, “I haven’t finished packing yet. It’s a bit messy right now. Please have a seat and wait for me. I’ll be done soon.”
He stood frozen in place.

After a long moment, he looked me up and down, then asked with a bewildered expression, “Are you going on a business trip?”
“No.”
“Then a vacation?” he asked again, his voice slightly trembling.
boul to answer.
Chapter 1
I watched his back as I raised my hand and signed my name on the document.
After signing, I left without waiting for his call to end.
On the day we received our divorce certificate, he sat in the car looking at me with a complex expression and asked, “Ava, is this what you really want? No regrets?”
I said, “Yes.”
The corner of his mouth turned up slightly, his hands gripping the steering wheel a bit tighter as he turned away and said, “Alright then, I’m leaving.”
I stepped back, nodded to him, and said, “Goodbye.”
He didn’t look at me, and the next moment, the car drove past me.
It wasn’t long before the news of my divorce from James spread.
I heard that on what would have been our three–week anniversary around Christmas, a group of people showed up at James’s door with gifts, expecting to witness the heartwarming surprise they had. planned together. Instead, they found only James in his pajamas, looking expressionless with a bowl of spaghetti in his hands.
Someone awkwardly asked, “James, didn’t you tell us you were planning a surprise for your wife?”
James stared at the people outside his door, remained silent for a good while, then finally tugged at the corner of his mouth and said, “Oh, I forgot.”
Chapter 1
“Are you heading back? I can give you a ride.”
I glanced behind me. Yvonne was standing not far away, watching us intently.
I held up my phone and said, “No need. You have company. My ride will be here any minule.”
With that, I pushed past him and headed for the exit.
Suddenly, he grabbed my wrist. His lips pressed tightly together as he said, “Wait a moment.”
