The joy between Fedrick and me had been so perfect, almost unreal. It made the sudden flash of blinding light. even more shocking. The car swerved wildly, metal shrieking, and the world turned upside down as we tumbled
My heart raced, my thoughts scattering like leaves in the wind. Fedrick’s arm instinctively shot out, trying to shield me. His voice was calm but strained as he shouted, “Hold on!”
Pain seared through my side as the car came to a grinding halt, upside down. The air was heavy with the scent of blood and gasoline. My vision blurred, but I could still see Fedrick struggling to move, his breaths ragged
“Are you okay?” I whispered, wincing as I tried to shift.
He groaned, his movements slow. “I’m fine. You?”
“I think so,” I lied, my leg screaming in protest
Fedrick leaned closer, his voice shaking. “Do you smell that?”
At first, I didn’t understand. Then it hit me–a faint but sharp smell that sent chills down my spine. My voice.

STERREJECTION. THE OMEGA FRES
His face tightened, blood trickling down the side of his forehead. The fear in his eyes mirrored my own. Wolfbane wasn’t just a toxin; it was a death sentence for werewolves like us. It weakened us, blocked our ability to shift, and
left us vulnerable.
“We can’t shift,” I said, my voice breaking. “We’re stuck.”
Fedrick’s jaw clenched, his eyes scanning our surroundings. The car was crushed like a tin can. My legs were pinned, and he wasn’t faring much better. The realization hit us both at the same time–this wasn’t an accident.
*Someone planned this,” he muttered, his voice low and angry
I nodded, tears blurring my vision. The road was deserted. Help wasn’t coming. The thought of dying here, trapped and helpless, tightened around my chest like a vise.
Fedrick’s voice softened, cutting through my spiraling thoughts. “Nia, look at me.
I turned to him, my lips trembling. His gaze was steady despite the chaos around us. “We’re not giving up,” he
said firmly. “Not yet.”
But his resolve only made my heart ache more. Seeing him hurt, protecting me even now, reminded me of all the
moments he’d been there for me–his kindness, his strength, his unwavering love.
“Have we met before?” The question tumbled from my lips before I could stop it
He blinked, surprise flickering across his face. “What?”
“I mean… before all this. Have we met?” My voice was barely a whisper.
A memory
surfaced, faint and distant, like a long–forgotten dream. “High school,” I said slowly.
His expression softened, and he gave a small nod. “You’re remembering”
“You were the shy Alpha,” I murmured. “The one everyone picked on. And I…”
“You stood up for me,” he finished, his voice tinged with warmth.
The memory became clearer. I had been furious at the bullies, who thought it was funny to push him around. Without thinking, I’d stepped in, scolding them until they scattered.
“You confessed to me,” I said, my voice shaky. “But I…
“You rejected me,” he said gently. There was no bitterness in his tone, only quiet acceptance.
Tears streamed down my face. “I was a fool whispered “I didn’t see what was right in front of me

His hand found mine, squeezing it weakly. “It doesn’t matter now, Nia. We’re here. Together. That’s what counts.”
But his words only made the pain sharper. The wolfbane was seeping into our systems, and time was slipping
away.
“I love you,” I said suddenly, the words bursting from my heart. “I love you, Fedrick. I always have. I just didn’t realize it until now.”
He stared at me, his eyes wide with emotion. “Nia…”
My strength was fading fast, but I didn’t care. If this was how it ended, I wanted it to end in his arms. I leaned forward, pressing my lips to his,
His body stiffened, then softened against mine. He kissed me back, pouring every ounce of his love into that
moment
“I won’t let you go,” he said, his voice breaking
But I could feel my body giving out, my vision darkening. “I love you,” I whispered again, a faint smile on my lips as the world faded away.
“Stay with me!” Fedrick’s voice was desperate, raw
His cries became distant, his tears mixing with the blood on his face. The last thing I felt was his arms around me, holding me tightly as he whispered my name.
In Another Place
“It’s been done.”
The voice on the other end of the call was cold, devoid of any warmth or remorse. Each word was precise, as if carefully measured to carry weight without emotion.
The woman on the other side of the line lowered the phone slowly, a sly smile curling her painted lips. Her perfectly manicured nails gleamed under the soft light as she blew on them, inspecting her work with calm satisfaction.
