Gerrald had indeed loved Lydia for many years–long enough to know her better than she knew herself. One look into her eyes and he could tell she was lying. He didn’t loosen his grip. Instead, he turned to his assistant and ordered coldly, “Go. Get the hotel surveillance footage. Now.”
Lydia’s heart pounded in panic. A flash of resentment crossed her eyes. Was Gerrald really willing to investigate her for that pathetic woman? A woman whose only worth was birthing children?
She forced a smile and clung to his arm. “Gerrald, today is our wedding. Don’t let an insignificant woman ruin such a special day, okay?”
“She’s beneath you, Gerrald. I saw plenty of women like her when I was studying abroad–gold diggers willing to do anything to climb the social ladder. She doesn’t love you. She loves your money.”
But no matter how sweetly she spoke, Gerrald remained indifferent. He merely stared at Lydia, who had once been poised and elegant but now radiated venom and desperation. And at that moment, a chilling realization
washed over him.
Had he really loved this woman all these years? Was this who he had worshiped so blindly?

Regardless, there was one undeniable fact–Jenny’s child had died because of her. And she didn’t feel the slightest guilt. Instead, her eyes were full of malice. But Jenny… she had never once asked him for anything. Not money. Not status. Not even the wedding that was rightfully hers. When he lied to her–when he told her he had to marry Lydia to appease his mother–she had known the truth all along. Yet, she had neither complained nor questioned him.
Gerrald had never felt so ashamed in his life. The assistant returned quickly, holding out a tablet. Gerrald watched the footage in silence, his expression darkening with every second. By the time the video ended, his face was so black with fury that it looked as if it could swallow the very air around
him.
With a forceful shove, he threw Lydia to the ground, glaring at her with raw disgust.
“You make me sick.” His voice was ice.
“Lydia, I’m telling you now–we’re finished.”

Lydia’s eyes widened in disbelief. She scrambled to her knees, clutching at his legs, tears spilling down her perfectly made–up face. “Gerrald, please! Don’t do this to me! Haven’t you always wanted to marry me? I finally agreed! Why are you backing out?”

Her fingers tightened desperately. “Is it because of that bitch Jenny? What’s so good about her?! She’s just a lowly mistress! She can give you children? So can I! She loves your money, but I love you!”
“Enough.”
Gerrald kicked her away, his voice cold as death. “You love me?” He sneered. “Then why did you eagerly accept every luxury I threw at you? You clung to me while enjoying the vanity and status I gave you. Did you think I wouldn’t notice?”
His voice dropped, each word laced with venom. “I admit, I once loved you. I poured money and devotion into you. I even-” his voice cracked, “I even sent you Jenny’s unborn children as specimens, just to please you. I promised you the grandest wedding, but you… you weren’t satisfied, were you?”
His breath was ragged with fury. “Why did you show her those videos? Why did you say those things? You forced her to abort her child–her body was already weak and you knew it! Why did you do it?!”
Lydia flinched at his raw anger, but she quickly steadied herself. “Gerrald, you’re being manipulated! She’s lying to you! I was just-”
“Jenny is nothing like what you claim.” His voice was steel. “She never asked me for anything. She was never a mistress. In the years before you agreed to marry me, she was the only one by my side. Lydia, the only pathetic one here is you.”
His final words fell like the sharp edge of a blade. “The wedding is canceled.”
A stunned silence blanketed the room. Gasps rippled through the guests. Lydia sat frozen, unable to process what she had just heard. But before Gerrald could turn to leave, an imposing figure stepped into his path. His mother.
“Gerrald,” she said coldly. “Where do you think you’re going? Don’t tell me you’re throwing away everything over a woman.”
Gerrald’s jaw clenched. “Mom, move.”
“Over a woman of such low status? A woman who’s already dead?” She scoffed, folding her arms. “That’s a blessing if you ask me. Saves resources. I

never cared for the bastards she bore and I certainly don’t care for her.”
She leveled him with a glare. “You will finish this wedding. Or you will no longer be my son.”
