Hillary had been silent, but now she finally spoke. “Give up. You were born to live a life of prestige and luxury Stop forcing yourself to do things you don’t want to do.”
Julian’s pupils dilated and his face was almost ashen. Hillary couldn’t bear to look at him any longer. Her
expression turned cold as she spoke, “In the future, no matter what you do, I won’t show you any mercy.”
After that, she stood up and compensated for the damaged things. Just as she was about to leave, Julian’s trembling and suppressed voice came from behind, “Hillary, I won’t love you anymore.”
Hillary paused for a moment before responding in a calm, indifferent tone. “You should’ve given up a long time
ago”
A month passed and Hillary half–expected him to revert to his old ways. Surprisingly, she didn’t see Julian again. Only then did she feel genuinely relieved. Because of him, she had been away from home for three years. Now that he had given up, she no longer needed to keep avoiding him.
Hillary booked a flight back home. She had been collecting evidence of Julian’s repeated harassment, but there
was no reason to pursue things any further now that he appeared to have let go.
She couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was watching her as she boarded the plane. When she glanced at the bodyguards around her and saw that they remained unfazed, she convinced herself it was just her imagination.
It wasn’t until she saw Julian in the crowd. He was wearing a black leather jacket, with a fair face and an
indifferent expression. A second later, he met her gaze. The corners of his lips curled into a mocking smile. “Ms Jones, I’m heading back home too. Surely, you don’t think I’m following you, do you?”
Hillary’s expression remained unreadable and her tone calm. “You’re overthinking it, Mr. Cook”
She massaged her temples during the flight, feeling a wave of exhaustion wash over her. Before Hillary knew it,
she had drifted off to sleep. When she opened her eyes again, she found herself in an unfamiliar place. She looked up as a shadow fell over her, but then her expression instantly froze.
It was Julian. He stood by the floor–to–ceiling window near her and his face so pale it was almost translucent The man slowly turned his head to look at her, a chilling smile tugging at his thin lips. “Hillary, you’re finally awake.”
Hillary’s expression turned icy. “Julian, where are we? I was on a plane. How did I end up here?”
He lowered his gaze, his voice eerily calm. “Hillary, my mother passed away.”
Hillary was stunned. How could that be? The last time she saw his mother, that woman had been healthy and full
of life. The news came so suddenly that she didn’t know how to respond.
Julian looked up at the sky outside the window, his expression sorrowful. “She was driven to her death by the

Cooks, but I can’t go see her, Hillary. I can’t even go home.”
Hillary thought she saw his body trembling. Her heart couldn’t help but soften. Just as she was about to speak
Julian composed himself. His expression turned calm. “Hillary, from now on, you’ll live here.
The temperature in the room seemed to plummet and Hillary’s face darkened. “Julian, didn’t you say you
wouldn’t love me anymore? What is this supposed to mean?”
Julian’s eyes clouded over. “Does it make you that happy to think I’ve stopped loving you?”
Her gaze turned even colder, “You went back on your word.”
The man looked at her, then suddenly chuckled. “Don’t look at me like that. I won’t tie you up. There’s enough food and supplies here for a year.”
He paused, then spoke with a rare sincerity. “Maybe it won’t even take a year. Hillary, I just want to try again, By keeping you here, I’m trapping myself too.”
Hillary didn’t even spare him a glance. At first, she tried every possible way to escape but soon realized there
was no way out.
Julian simply stood by and watched her struggle. Eventually, he let out a soft chuckle. “See? I wasn’t lying. Don’t
look at me like that. I can’t leave either. When the time comes, someone will open the door for us.”
Hillary couldn’t find a phone, nor could she find any way to contact the outside world. Since she couldn’t leave. she began to enjoy everything in the villa. Just as Julian said, it had everything she could possibly need. Even her usual skincare products took up quite a bit of space.
She remained calm as she looked at him, “Julian, you won’t be able to keep me here for long ” Before she
boarded the plane, she had already contacted her parents. Even if Julian used her phone to send misleading
messages, her bodyguards would report her missing.
