Chapter 6
Joanna, nearing her due date, had been admitted to the hospital.
She wasn’t happy with how Alpha Logan spent all his time taking care of me. While Alpha Logan went to find the doctor, she slipped into my hospital room.
I was awakened by a cold breeze. Joanna had opened the window in my room.
I woke to a sharp, biting breeze. The window was open, and moonlight spilled into the room, illuminating Joanna’s face. Half shrouded in shadow, her expression was twisted with barely concealed rage.
“I’m about to give birth, and you’re still monopolizing Alpha Logan?” she hissed
Hier words were like knives, but I was too weak to care. I could barely muster the energy to glare back at her. Her anger, however, gave her strength. I noticed her hands trembling as they shifted, her nails extending into sharp claws. If I hadn’t woken up, I had no doubt she would have tried to kill me in my sleep.
I exhaled slowly, mustering a wry smile. “If you’re capable, Joanna, then take him back”
“You’re having his child, and he still doesn’t come to see you?”
Her claws twitched, itching to strike, but my words only seemed to fuel her fury.
“You’re lying,” she spat. “Alpha Logan loves me! He only feels sorry for you!”

I coughed a few times, gathering enough strength to speak.
I coughed, my chest tightening painfully. “Oh, Joanna… If he loves you so much, why hasn’t he signed the divorce papers? Why does he keep me here? You’re just a tool- a womb to carry his heir. If he cared for you, would he let your child grow up illegitimate?”
“Shut up! You’re lying! Alpha Logan loves me!” Joanna, blinded by jealousy, lunged at me and ripped off my oxygen mask.
The overwhelming sensation of suffocation hit me instantly. I didn’t struggle; I just stared at her, smiling.
Her eyes were red, her fists clenched as she watched me slowly suffocate to death. Her face, twisted by hatred, seemed like she truly wanted me gone.
What she didn’t know was that I had been holding on for so long, just waiting for her to kill me.
It was laughable, so laughable that tears streamed down my face.
Joanna couldn’t understand me. By the time she snapped out of it and panicked, trying to put the oxygen mask back on me, I had already stopped breathing.
Amber, my wolf, appeared beside me, her ethereal presence calm and steady. I felt my soul lift from my broken body, weightless at last.
Joanna, horrified, collapsed to the ground Water flowed from between her legs, and she groaned in pain, clutching her stomach

The door to the room opened.
Alpha Logan entered, holding a water bottle, with his anxious mother who had come to find Joanna.
In the dimly lit room, the steady beep of the flatlining heart monitor, the removed oxygen mask, and Joanna’s groans filled the air with an eerie atmosphere.
Alpha Logan’s eyes reddened, panic overtaking him as he rushed toward me.
His mother grabbed him firmly, urgently shouting, “Joanna’s going into labor! Go get the doctor!”
“Alpha Logan, help me! It hurts so much!”
Joanna cried out in pain, but Alpha Logan didn’t look at her once. He shook off his

mother’s grasp, his face dark with regret and anguish.
“Mom, you have ruined my life. Are you happy now?”
That night, the doctor declared my death afte an unsuccessful attempt to resuscitate me. I died on the same night his pup was born, and my in–laws gathered around their grandson Joanna had given them, feeling incredibly happy and content as if they had the whole world in their possession.
Meanwhile, I lay in the cold morgue, and only after I was gone did I see the love in Alpha Logan’s eyes. He collapsed beside me, crying uncontrollably, refusing to let my hand slip away no matter what.
“Melissa, I was wrong. Please, open your eyes and look at me.

“I beg you.”
I didn’t know why I still lingered in this world. Maybe God wanted me to witness the fate of this jerk.
