The sharp tang of whiskey lingered in my throat as I sat slumped in the leather chair of my office. My wolf growled, complained, and reminded me of my failures.

“Shut up.” I muttered.
You let her reject us. You let her walk away.
I slammed the glass on my desk and stood. My head spun from the weight of the truth, clawing at my insides. I paced the room and ran a hand through my disheveled hair. I had been up drinking the whole night.

The sharp knock on the door quieted my wolf and startled me.
“What?” I barked.
The door opened, and Aurora stepped in.
“Alpha Tyson, you summoned me?” she
asked.
I nodded, leaning against the desk to keep my legs from giving out. “Yeah. I need
answers.
The healer raised a brow but said nothing, waiting for me to continue.
“Kate, she couldn’t conceive. You ran the tests. You said…”
“I said nothing,” the healer interrupted calmly.
“You asked me to test both of you, and I
did.”
“And the results?”
The healer’s gaze was steady, unflinching.

I straightened as rage replaced the ache in my chest.

The healer bowed and left without another word. My heart thundered as I paced the room. Stella had lied. She had to. But why?
When the door opened again, Stella sauntered in. She looked calm, and her hand rested on her stomach.

I crossed the room, grabbed her by the arm, and pulled her closer. Her smile disappeared, replaced by fear in her eyes.
“Who is it, Stella?” I growled, my grip
