The man in sunglasses had thought that a girl targeted by someone as scheming as Marcus would surely fall head over heels within two weeks, but to his surprise, after so much time, there had been no progress whatsoever.
By the time Quinn returned home, she was drenched in sweat, her mind consumed by Marcus‘ words.
She closed her eyes and shook her head, trying to force the words out of her mind, but the voices that had once mocked her echoed relentlessly in her ears.
“Just look at yourself. How dare you stand next to Zayden? You’re not even worthy to carry his shoes.”
And then, during her time in prison, there were several women who said many things she found strange. The insults and beatings she endured all seemed to point toward Zayden.
“Who knows what you did to make Zayden hate you so much, that even in prison, he had to order us to take care of you.”
“Hey, we feel for you, but once we take the money, we’ve got to do our job. We can’t just let you cry and ignore it.”
Quinn’s face went pale as she waved her hands, trying to make those words leave her mind. But one misstep, and she collapsed onto the floor.
Her posture was exactly the same as it had been back then.
“I didn’t! Zayden wouldn’t do this to me! You’re lying!”
How naive Quinn had been back then, struggling in vain, unaware that she had scratched one of the girls‘ faces in the process.
That girl was the best friend of the prison’s top boss, and that was when Quinn’s suffering truly began.
Her main task every day became how to avoid the people who wanted to humiliate her, like a rat, constantly hiding and searching for opportunities to fill her empty stomach.
The guards saw her constantly hiding and thought she was purposely avoiding work, so they would scold her every time they saw her.
Quinn had tried her best to forget all of it, but a single word from someone could send unbearable pain.
She had believed it was her own weakness, that she just couldn’t handle the stress.

Although she appeared confident and tough after her release, the power of people’s words was terrifying, and there were always certain remarks that hit her soft spot.
The videos had sent Olive to prison and had forced Quinn to relive the hellish humiliation, pain that followed her like a shadow.
What she longed for was for others to know she had a warm home, not a past full of mud.
So, in the stillness of the night, she hid alone in a corner of her room, crying quietly.
Quinn had been suppressing her sobs, but Norman still heard her. When he saw Quinn curled up on the floor, crying, his heart ached terribly.
“Quinn, what’s wrong?”
He pulled the hair away from her face, and Quinn’s burning tears fell into his hand. The heat made him flinch, and his worry grew even stronger.
“Quinn, tell me what happened, I’ll fix it for you.”
Quinn threw herself into Norman’s embrace, wiped her tears, and shook her head. “Grandpa, you’re all I have left. You have to stay with me.”
Norman hugged her tightly, gently stroking the top of her head. She was his most beloved granddaughter. He had been kept in the dark before, but now, no one would dare to bully her again.
“I’m here. You’re my only granddaughter, and I’ll stay by your side.”
Quinn buried her tear–streaked face in Norman’s sleeve.
That night, it was the first time in many years that Quinn cried without restraint, letting herself indulge in her emotions.
After that day, Quinn returned to her old self, sharp and fully immersed in her work. She wanted to give Norman a better life.
At the airport, Zayden impatiently checked his watch and then looked up at the plane.
His tall, slender figure and handsome face exuded an air of nobility with every movement.
Such a Zayden drew many gazes. At first, people tried to sneak photos, but as the crowd grew, they became bold, all assuming they had encountered some celebrity.
Zayden frowned and pulled up his mask, turning to avoid a girl who was about to approach him.
Ten minutes later, he finally spotted Jasper at the exit.
Wearing black sunglasses, loose jeans, and a jacket over a revealing vest, Jasper looked just as rebellious as Zayden remembered.
Jasper immediately spotted his good friend Zayden and rushed to give him a big hug, but Zayden stepped aside to avoid it.
