Chapter 17 Bold
Annie stomped her foot in anger and embarrassment. This time, before she could say anything, I spoke first.
“Ms. Lloyd, maybe you should wait until you become Mrs. Stafford before making such bold claims.” With that, I quickly
walked over to Evan’s side.
By now, the on–site inspection was wrapping up. Both parties. had essentially agreed to collaborate, and a few factory leaders were eagerly inviting Evan to dinner.
One of the leaders who didn’t speak our language noticed Evan’s continued silence. He started babbling in Vyrelyn, urging me to translate. However, I was bold and didn’t
translate.
Instead, my eyes sparkled as I nodded and said, “Sure! I’ve been wanting to try Solviano cuisine. I’ve heard the berry tarts. have a flaky crust and creamy filling. The pastries are crispy. on the outside and soft and sweet on the inside, and the Firestone Roast is legendary.”
Everyone present was stunned. At first, they were shocked by my audacity. After all, I was just an accompanying translator. It wasn’t my place to speak, let alone make decisions for Evan.
Then their faces contorted in surprise and delight because of Evan. He remained silent.
Publicly, in such a formal setting, a mere employee like me had just overstepped my bounds, practically taking charge over the

senior leader. Yet, the key point was that this leader hadn’t objected.
The group quickly called for some luxury cars to escort us, all while privately speculating about my relationship with Evan.
At the luxurious Royal Dining Hall, I received a warm invitation to the main table and was seated right next to Evan because of what happened earlier on.
Meanwhile, Xavier was seated at another table. Annie, the engineering assistant, was also seated with a few other engineers at another table.
Looking around, the main table was filled with executives. Even I knew enough to stand up and pour them their drinks.
“Ms. Sinclair, please have a seat. How could we trouble you with pouring drinks?” A factory leader looked around and ultimately called Annie over to pour the drinks.
That was when I noticed that Annie had changed her outfit. She was no longer in her pink princess dress but was instead wearing a mature, sexy, black, mermaid -style, low–cut gown.
When she poured drinks for Evan, she deliberately exposed her cleavage. Wonderful. A casual glance in her direction left. nothing to imagination.
I sat at the side angrily while sneaking glances at Evan. He didn’t look at Annie even once, let alone be tempted by her revealing display.
I had to give him credit. He was cold and unresponsive. Such a mature and composed man was leagues better than the

impulsive and arrogant Samuel.
He might be cold, but at least he wasn’t a womanizer. He was worth pursuing, no matter how difficult it was.
“Ms. Sinclair, I’ll pour you a drink next!” Annie’s tone was polite, but her eyes were filled with a deep resentment, almost turning her into a vengeful spirit.
Noticing her intentions, a perceptive leader casually remarked, Ms. Sinclair, you don’t look very old. You must be incredibly smart and capable to become Mr. Stafford’s right–hand person.
He was probing into my relationship with Evan on behalf of
Annie.
After several encounters, I realized that Evan would always respect me in public.
This time, I thought Evan would just smile it off without
explaining anything. But unexpectedly, he suddenly smiled and said, “My niece is a bit mischievous. I hope you all don’t mind.”
What? Niece? Seriously.
I was trying to become his girlfriend, and he was treating me like his niece. Should I thank him for not introducing me as his nephew’s wife“?
Looking around, I saw the shock on everyone’s faces. They seemed to be saying that they thought I had some special relationship with Evan, but it turned out to be an uncle–niece relationship.
Of course, the happiest person was Annie, whose smile was
practically twisted.
“As Evan’s niece, you’re like a niece to all of us. Juju, didn’t you say you wanted to try the Firestone Roast? Come on! Give it a
taste.”
Annie spoke with the tone of a senior, clearly trying to provoke
me.
