In the dark, silent night, moonlight flitted about in the night sky like a weak flame on a candle in the endless darkness.
Clouds covered the sky and the night breeze felt chilly, like a sneaky thief drawing close under the cover of the night.
The office was a mess, the darkness outside melting into the tense atmosphere in the room.
There were many computers laid out on the large table, information and data blinking rapidly on the screen like the stars in the night sky, piercing through one’s nerves.
Theodore was leading the pack, walking around the periphery of the table amidst the tense atmosphere, his attention completely drawn toward the computer screens.
Everyone was involved in this extremely dangerous and challenging rescue operation. They were now at the stage of planning for the rescue operation.
Christopher was involved, as well. Half of the men in the office room were working under him.
Theodore placed the report he received on the table and said to Christopher, “Veloso is an isolated country. We can only make our move with the most accurate information on hand.”
They had only one chance. Any mistake and the rescue operation would fail.
Everyone in the room were experts in their field that Theodore engaged; hackers, intelligence experts, and strategists. Every single member of the team was putting his skills in his field of expertise to the test.
They had to ensure perfection in every detail and develop the best entry and attack proposal, making sure that every step was accurate and precise.
“The higher-ups in Blencalgo know local people of influence in Veloso and have always been in contact with them. I’ve activated my network to get my hands on intelligence. They’ve agreed to be our spies and provided me with a secret passageway into Veloso,” Christopher said.
“We have to make sure nothing goes wrong. Are those locals reliable?” Theodore said.
“They aren’t,” Christopher admitted. “But money is. That’s their condition. Leonard has already agreed to it. If anything goes wrong, he’ll carry out secret negotiations with the higher-ups in Veloso.”
“Leonard Zimmer?” Theodore said. “He actually agreed to help us?”
Leonard was the third most important man in Blencalgo and even people in Melrine had to show him due respect.
“The Jacksons haven’t been in the upper-class circle for so many years for nothing,” Christopher said. “I’ll use whatever contacts and resources that come in handy to save Rose.”
His eyes turned solemn. “Rose is my niece. I must rescue her no matter what. Seb has gone mad.”
He didn’t expect Sebastian to go crazy like this.
“Mr. Jackson, when we save Rose, I’ll be sure to tell her you went to great lengths
to save her,” Theodore promised.
“Let’s think about that after we
rescue her. But are you really going to go to Veloso in person for the rescue mission? You don’t need to do that, you know. You can always send a professional team in.”
“I have to go by myself, or I won’t feel at ease.”
During this period, Theodore had been undergoing physical and battle training. He could neither eat nor sleep at the mere thought of Rose being in danger. He had to see her with his own eyes.
Christopher nodded.
