Moments with one’s lover were always sweet.
Rosalie and Justin spent many happy days together.
Aside from when Rosalie was at work, the two of them were always together, eating, sleeping and even going out for fun. They would often take walks at the park hand-in-hand.
Justin had a high sex drive and was always in the mood for more. Rosalie
sometimes felt overwhelmed, but the pitiful look on Justin’s face always made her give in.
Thankfully, Justin was always considerate of her feelings and never failed to make her very happy.
Rosalie did find it tiring, but she also felt so filled with joy after each time.
To be loved and doted on every moment by her lover made her immensely happy.
This was the happiest Rosalie had been in her life. She hoped such happiness could last her entire lifetime.
At night, Justin released Rosalie when he was finally sated.
Rosalie panted heavily, her cheeks so flushed they looked like they were on the verge of bleeding. Sweat beaded on her forehead.
“Darling, are you alright?” Justin wiped the sweat from her forehead.
Rosalie leaned into his arms. “You’re a beast.”
Justin burst out laughing. “I am a beast in your presence.”
Rosalie leaned against his shoulder. “Justin, it’s been more than a month and the date is approaching. We’re about to get married.”
Justin nodded. “Yeah.”
He had all the documents prepared such that he and Rosalie could register their marriage.
“Justin,” Rosalie said as she laid on his shoulder. “Will you start getting annoyed with me after we get married?”
Justin furrowed his brows. “Why did you ask that?”
“You see so many people with broken marriages and they all say that people change once they get married. Some men even start loathing their wives after two years, finding them annoying to the point of not wanting to touch them. Will you be like that?” Rosalie said.
“Do you think I’m that kind of person?”
“I don’t think you are,” Rosalie said, “but marriages often cause many people pain, I’m still a little scared. Justin, I’m not saying that I don’t want to marry you. I still want to, it’s just that…”
“Rose, you silly girl. Marriage isn’t the thing that brings people pain, but the people themselves. The marriage by itself is dead, but the people in it are alive.
“Happiness depends very much on how people choose to live their lives. The mindset by which you live your life will be the mindset you bring into your marriage.
“If both the husband and wife have a grudge with each other, the marriage naturally wouldn’t work out. These people will naturally be unhappy, and they’d act as if marriage was the culprit behind their misfortune.
“Some people even equate marriage to long-term prostitution, spreading negativity despite clearly being the one who destroyed their marriages. Some people just refuse to take responsibility for a long-term relationship, or find themselves unable to do so.
“Many people don’t want to be tied down to a relationship and want to leave anytime they please, especially after the novelty wears off. They just want to float around and not take responsibility for anything, so they just find an excuse for leaving. It’s not that easy leaving a marriage, so of course they try to insult marriage itself and scorn married couples.” swnovel
Rosalie chuckled. “That makes sense. Where did you hear all that from?”
“I didn’t need to hear it from anywhere. I figured it out myself. We’re the ones living our lives and also the cause of our problems.
Some people treat marria net
as a
tool or pursuit of self-interest. They are the ones who look upon
marriage that way. It’s their fault they ended up unhappy. How could they generalize and say that all marriages are the same?” swnovel
“Justin, do you mean to say that our marriage won’t be like that?”
“Exactly. Our marriage certainly won’t be like that.” He cupped Rosalie’s cheeks in
his palms. “Darling, if I ever hurt you or cause you pain, hit or scold or do
whatever you want with me.”
“I won’t do that,” Rosalie said, pinching his nose gently. “If you make me upset, I’ll tell you. I won’t scold you, because I don’t want our marriage to become an unhappy one. If we ever have a conflict, I hope we can sit down and talk things through. Let’s not hurt each other and ruin our marriage. swnovel
“You’re right, our lives are our own and we should lead them well. Let’s not complain about each other like what other couples do. We should give in to and bear with one another instead of thinking only of ourselves.”
Justin had no words to describe the happiness he was feeling. He shut his eyes and hugged his beloved woman tight.
He was so fortunate to be with such a wonderful woman.
Whether they got married or not, Rosalie was his woman and that would never change.
Despite thinking so, he wanted to marry her, giving her his promises and commitment.
He didn’t see marriage as shackles. That was only the case if he had married the
wrong woman. However, that wasn’t so if he met the right one.
Sometimes, he wondered what was the point of life.
So what if he earned a fortune?
That only served to stroke one’s ego. How meaningless.
