Chapter 394
Charlie watched her approaching, his gaze darkening slightly. He spoke up, “Can you tell me what exactly happened yesterday? How did you rescue that white shark? A white shark’s status in the ocean is like that of a lion in the forest-it’s not easily tamed by humans. So, what did you do? Also, there must have been a mother shark nearby. How did you manage to get away?”
He spoke gently and his voice was calm, but his questions were sharp and hitting the mark. His strong presence and pressure made it hard to look away from his plain face.
“Mmm…” Milly pressed her lips together in silence. “You’ve thrown a lot of questions at me all at once. I’m not sure where to start.”
Charlie’s gaze remained cold and carried an air of insistence. “Then let’s start with the simplest question: how did you rescue that little white shark yesterday?”
Although he asked it as a question, it seemed he already had everything figured out, his eyes filled with certainty.
Milly blinked, tilted her head, and smiled at him, half- playfully saying, “They say it’s give and take. You suddenly ask me so many questions-what’s in it for me if I answer?”
Most people would simply walk away from such an unreasonable request, choosing not to respond.
But Charlie seemed determined to get to the bottom of things, his gaze firm. “Okay, what do you want?”
Milly blinked, glanced at a distant camera still emitting a red light, then suddenly stopped and leaned close to his ear. She whispered softly, “I’ll answer one question if you give me a kiss. Deal?”
Her voice was barely audible, its warmth brushing against his ear, causing a rush of warmth that made his heart skip a beat. At that moment, it felt like all the colours in the world had faded, leaving only the person in front of him.
“You…” He was about to say something when suddenly the calm sea surface erupted into turmoil.
“Aoaoao!” The sounds of sharks echoed closer, approaching rapidly towards them.
Both Charlie and Milly were stunned, their eyes turning towards the sea. “What’s that?”
By now, a school of great white sharks had encircled them, their dorsal fins sharp and menacing as they broke the surface. They appeared to be mostly young adults, with even the smallest among them measuring four to five metres long.
Because they had just pulled in the fishing net, they hadn’t completely left yet. They were still standing on a rocky reef surrounded on three sides by the sea, with only one side of rocks providing a way out. However, the area around them was now filled with great white sharks, clearly here with a purpose.
If they were to leave hastily, it might provoke the sharks and lead to an attack. Even though the sharks were currently in the ocean, just a flick of their tails could potentially send them plunging into the depths.
Charlie slowly shielded Milly behind him, his voice low. “Don’t be afraid.”
Milly frowned as she watched the great white sharks still swimming towards them in the deep water. She bit her lip and then brought up a practical concern. “This situation teaches us that flirting in dangerous places can really get us killed!”
Despite her words, her mind was racing.
She did know the baby white shark, and it seemed the shark hadn’t forgotten her either. It showed no signs of aggression towards her just now. Logically, being part of the same species, saving it shouldn’t provoke an attack from the great white sharks!
And besides, that great white shark from yesterday clearly understood human behaviour, so it’s unlikely to let its companions attack her.
If that’s the case, could this little white shark be a wanted criminal within the shark group?
No way. That little guy is too dumb to be a fugitive. The intelligence of this shark group shouldn’t be that low, right?
The most important thing now is to get out of here first!
Milly pursed her lips, scanned her surroundings, and quietly said to Charlie, “Let’s slowly move back. Once we’re out of their attack range, we should be safe.
He nodded quietly.
As they took a half-step back, Milly suddenly halted, pointing ahead. “Wait, look over there!”
Following her gesture, Charlie saw the baby white shark they had rescued swimming at the front of the shark group. It was tilting its head up, emitting enthusiastic “buzzing” sounds. Spotting them, it grew even more excited, wagging its tail and circling the larger sharks behind it.
“Buzz buzz buzz …
The big, great white shark behind it, which was its mother, got annoyed by it and swished its tail, making the little guy disappear into the sea in no time.
Milly thought, Same old, same old.
Then she saw the great white shark suddenly yell out loud, and the other white sharks that were just swimming around quickly lined up behind her, clearly obeying her command.
The great white shark then swam to the nearest spot to Milly and tilted its head slightly.
Milly was confused.
What does this mean?
It… isn’t a wanted criminal?
Then, an unfamiliar big white shark behind her seemed to have received its command and slowly swam up to Milly. It raised its fishtail in front of her astonished eyes.
“Watch out!”
Charlie turned pale and quickly grabbed Milly’s arm, shielding her behind him.
But the white shark didn’t seem interested in attacking. It just lifted its tail and slammed it down on a nearby rock with a loud “thud,” causing a buzzing sound.
By the shore, on its tail, there was a large fish hook deeply embedded in its flesh, marked with signs of a prolonged struggle and looking rather frightening.
Does this mean…
Milly hesitated, unable to believe it. “You … are you asking me to help them clean up?”
“Buzz … Buzz … “replied the great white shark in the water.
Her worries just now were in vain!
Turns out they weren’t coming for revenge but seeking help instead. Probably after saving these two sharks yesterday, the rumour that “two-legged creatures could help fish” spread among the shark group, leading to today’s scene.
However, what made her curious was why every time something like this happened, it started with the little guy getting caught in a fishing net.
Does that little guy think the net is some kind of signal to meet her?
