Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change?

“Get in!”

Karol stumbled into the room, shoved by the bodyguard with a rough nudge.

On the couch, Gilbert sat with one arm lazily draped over the backrest, his gaze icy as he looked at her.

“Mr. Harrison,” Karol stammered, her voice trembling as she swallowed hard.

Gilbert barely lifted his eyelids, his voice dropping to a dangerous growl, “Karol, you’ve got some nerve, pulling a fast one on me!”

Karol’s knees nearly buckled under her, and she almost fell to the floor, forcing a smile, “Mr. Harrison, what are you talking about? I don’t understand…” “Don’t understand?”

Gilbert suddenly stood up, his eyes slightly lowered, “It was you who instructed the cleaning staff to light that incense in my room!”

No wonder he had felt dizzy and disoriented last night, unable to remember everything clearly…

It was all because of the incense!

“Ah!”

Karol gasped, falling to the ground as Gilbert roared, her face draining of color, pale as a ghost.

Had she been exposed?

So quickly?

“Mr. Harrison…”

Tears welled up in Karol’s eyes as she reached out and clutched at Gilbert’s pant leg.

“It was my fault, but I…”

Before she could finish, Gilbert’s phone rang.

It was Nolan.

With a look of disgust, Gilbert shook off Karol and answered the call, “Yeah, Nolan.”

“Mr. Nine.”

On the other end, Nolan said, “We’ve got some results on Saul.”

“Oh?”

Gilbert’s face was stoic as he raised an eyebrow, “You’ve taken your sweet time. Speedy as ever!”

His words were sharp, leaving Nolan wishing he could crawl back into his mother’s womb!

But Nolan dared not complain to Mr. Nine, replying with a respectful tone, “My apologies for the delay. Mr. Nine, we’ve turned Saul inside out, and finally, we’ve found a suspect…”

“Who?”

Nolan spat out a name, “Karol.”

Gilbert froze for a moment, then abruptly turned to face Karol, who was sitting on the floor.

His throat tightened, but his expression remained unchanged.

“Go on.”

“Yes, Mr. Nine.”

Nolan continued, “Saul and Karol grew up together. People at the

Neon Nights Bar said that knet

used to visit Saul often, and then,

Saul

ran into trouble…”

“We pressured Saul, offering both threats and incentives, and the kid finally spilled the beans…”

“Mr. Nine, it was Karol! She was the one

Snstructed Saul! She paid

cash, so there were no

records to trace.”

Gilbert listened in silence, “Alright, I’ve got it. Thanks for your effort.”

After hanging up, Gilbert walked straight towards Karol.

His steps were deliberate, each one seeming to weigh heavily on Karol’s heart.

Karol lifted her head, her face a mix of shock and fear, “Mr. Harrison?” sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ Findηovel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Hmph.

Gilbert let out a soft chuckle, a true case of ‘a gentleman is easy to serve, but a villain is hard to guard against’!

This little woman in front of him had been playing so many tricks behind his back!

Gilbert narrowed his eyes, fixing his gaze on Karol, and said abruptly, “Saul has confessed everything.”

Karol’s body jerked in shock, her eyes widening!

She knew exactly what that meant, and her expression, even for a split second, couldn’t hide it!

Gilbert saw it all, his anger reaching its peak in that moment.

“Ha!”

He laughed bitterly, his eyes flashing with uncontrolled fury.

“It was you who instructed Saul! And then, you had the audacity to frame Caroline for it!”

His tone was full of conviction, leaving no room for doubt.

“Mr. Harrison…” Karol desperately shook her head, a last-ditch effort, “I didn’t… He’s lying!”
