Chapter 694

“Oh, congratulations. I have another matter to attend to, so I should go now,” Hera said indifferently and bypassed him, preparing to leave.

Hurt by her aloof attitude, Bernard quickly held her hand. “But it’s a trap… I’ll come with you.”

He wanted to stop her, but he knew that she wouldn’t listen very well.

Hera looked at his bandaged right hand, which was holding hers. A pang of guilt hit her.

She looked up at his handsome face. It would be a lie to say that she hadn’t missed him after days of separation.

However, she didn’t want to see him now, especially since he returned to the country to dissuade her from continuing her plan.

She withdrew her hand and coldly refused him, “Thanks, but no.”

“Hera, you’re here! I’ve been looking for you.” The cheerful Thiago happened to come over. When he noticed Bernard behind Hera, his shoulders drooped as he assumed that she would stay by Bernard’s side from now onward.

To his surprise, she walked toward him. “I had a call to take. Let’s go.”

He sensed that something was off, but he followed her happily regardless.

Bernard watched them leave side by side as his heart broke. Everything in him was screaming at him to catch up to them and bring Hera back.

“Bernie…”

Right then, Everly showed up from the staircase. She glanced at the corridor, the direction Hera had left in.

Bernard spared her a disdainful glance and left.

Bitterness and jealousy surged in Everly as she blamed fate for being this cruel to her.

Hera didn’t love Bernard and even made use of his feelings for her, but he only had his eyes on her.

On the other hand, Everly loved him so much, but he chose to ignore her and give her the cold treatment. In spite of that, Everly believed that he would be moved by her feelings one day as long as she didn’t give up. “Bernie, I have something important to tell you.” She lifted the hem of her dress and scurried along the corridor to catch up with him. “I heard that there’s going to be a blackout in the building later. Hera’s afraid of the dark. You should remind her about it.”

Bernard stopped in his tracks and gave her a sideways glance.

She knew that he cared for Hera and he would be patient enough to listen as long as it concerned Hera.

Still, that one moment of attention from him was enough for her to cling to.

With a worried expression, she continued, “I heard it from the hotel manager. I’m not sure if it’s true, but I’m genuinely worried about Hera. If it’s true, she might get scared… I want to tell her about it myself, but she doesn’t want to see me…”

Bernard took out his phone and sent a message to Douglas, “Check the power supply of the Imperial Hotel.”

Everly parted her lips, wanting to say something, but Bernard had already walked away.

“Bernie… Ouch!” She wanted to go after him, but she accidentally twisted her ankle and fell on the ground because she wasn’t used to wearing high heels.

She instinctively placed her right hand on the ground, and the wound on her arm tore open as it hadn’t fully healed.

The artificial blood vessel in it shifted, sending waves of excruciating pain throughout her body. It hurt so much

that she fainted. She lay on the ground motionlessly. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ ƒindηʘvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Blood oozed out from her wound, staining her sleeve.

Natalie came out of the washroom and shrieked in surprise when she saw Everly lying in a pool of blood. “Everly! Are you alright? You’re bleeding so much blood!” Natalie quickly called a staff member over.

The staff member carried Everly to a lounge and called a doctor over. The doctor cut open her sleeve only to find her wound unusual.

When he was going to examine it closely, she woke up.

Noticing that someone had found out about her wound, she quickly pushed him away and ran out of the room in a panic. The pain didn’t bother her at all at that moment.

However, Priscilla had caught wind of the news.

That was why Everly was taken away by Priscilla’s men as soon as she ran out of the room.

Hera and Thiago returned to the main banquet hall.

“Did Bernard bully you?” he suddenly asked.

She instinctively looked over her shoulder. Relieved that Bernard didn’t follow them, she sighed. “No, he didn’t.”
