“Sherilyn,” Gilbert’s voice was hoarse, “Stop it.”
But Sherilyn, acting as if she hadn’t heard a word, ignored him completely. Her face was buried in the nape of his neck, her lips still pressing kisses against his skin.
“Sherilyn!”
This time, his voice was deeper, rougher, carrying an edge of frustration.
Gilbert quickened his pace, almost running into the master bedroom.
Then, with a swift motion, Sherilyn found herself thrown onto the bed.

Before Gilbert could protest, Sherilyn had wrapped her arms around his neck, sealing his lips with hers.

Finally, Gilbert managed to pull back, holding onto a shred of sanity as he fought hard to keep the fire in his eyes from igniting. “You forgot, the doctor said you need to rest these next few days.” Rest? Was this some kind of joke? She had been waiting for these days!
“I don’t want to.” Sherilyn pouted, her lips slightly pursed in a sulking yet adorable manner.
“I feel perfectly fine.”

Swallowing hard, he brushed away a few strands of her disheveled hair, “Are you sure you’re not feeling unwell?”
“Yes.” Sherilyn nodded, grabbing his shirt collar and pulling him closer.

His breath quickened, enveloping her, “If you feel unwell, you tell me immediately.”

Was he being questioned now? That heartless woman! Didn’t she see how much he cared?

Gilbert got up to pour her a glass of water, telling her to drink slowly. “Take it easy.”
“Mhm…” Sherilyn nodded, curling into his embrace.
Gilbert wrapped his arms around her waist, not wanting to let go.
He sensed that Sherilyn was particularly eager tonight, almost desperate – perhaps Sherilyn was scared too?
Because of Edgar, he hadn’t returned her calls.
She must be afraid that he would break up with her over this, right? That must be why she was clinging to him so much tonight. Gilbert felt both satisfied and heartbroken.
Stroking her hair, he whispered her name tenderly, “Sherilyn.”
“Hmm?”
“Don’t be afraid.” He kissed her forehead gently. “I’m not going anywhere.”
Sherilyn looked up at him, puzzled.
Seizing the moment, Gilbert pressed his cheek against hers, their intimacy undeniable, “I still like you a lot. I couldn’t bear to lose you.”
Thinking back to how she had run after Edgar, his chest tightened with discomfort.
“Just forget about Edgar, okay? You two broke up. He’s nothing to you now.”

He couldn’t stand losing her to anyone else.
His arms tightened around her instinctively.

Was he being jealous, or was Mr. Gilbert simply overwhelmed by his possessiveness?

Mr. Gilbert felt relieved, kissing her
gently on the lips, but that wasn’t et
enough, so he playfully bit her “You promised! Don’t lie to me!”
Jumping off the bed, he bent down to lift her, “Let’s take a shower.”
“You go start the water.” Sherilyn waved him off, “I’ll wait here for you to come get me.”
“Alright.”
Sherilyn adjusted the pillow under her waist, clasped her hands together, and silently prayed: Dear God, please, let it work this month.
