The files from Bruce’s phone were laid bare on the computer screen.
Thalassa sat beside Atticus. Her eyes glued to the monitor and didn’t dare to blink.
Atticus opened numerous files, but Thalassa couldn’t spot that video of Evelyn.
She had seen the thumbnail before; one glimpse would tell her whether the video was that one or not.
They were almost through all the files, and still no sign of the video.
Could it be that he didn’t save it on his phone?
Thalassa’s heart tightened with anxiety.
“Mom, the last one is encrypted. We need a password to open it.” Atticus said, his voice soft but serious, pointing at the unresponsive file.
Thalassa, slick with a sheen of sweat from tension and focus, asked nervously, “What do we do now?”
“No worries, the encryption is simple. Give me a few seconds to crack it.” Atticus’ fingers danced confidently across the keyboard, and soon the password was bypassed.
The final file opened.
As the video thumbnail appeared, Thalassa’s heart skipped a beat.
“There it is! That’s the video. Delete it. Don’t play it!” Thalassa’s voice quivered with urgency and nerves.
