Bruce had a knack for sizing up bling, effortlessly identifying the moneyed dames with just a glance. After all, how else could he accurately guess which woman was rolling in dough?

“Well, look here, leaving such a pricey little number behind? If nobody wants it, it’s finders keepers,” Bruce chuckled to himself, pocketing the cloud pendant with a satisfied grin.
Thalassa sat on the bus, headed back to Star Harbor Villa. She needed to see her mom, spend quality time with her, because she worried sick about how she was holding up.
She’d been fretting over Evelyn these past few days but still made two trips to Royal Estates to check on the kids.
Today, though, the kids were off her radar. She was all in for Evelyn. Just thinking about that video made her heart wrench and her breath catch.
The agony Evelyn suffered that day was beyond Thalassa’s wildest nightmares-so desperate, so helpless, and she wasn’t there to hold her.
Thalassa hugged herself tight in the bus seat, a torrent of sorrow and helplessness washing over her.
That video was Bruce’s trump card, a weapon to dangle over her head.
What should she do? How could she resolve this matter? Should she spill it to Lysander?
The man was a titan; nothing was beyond his reach. If she told him, he’d squash the problem flat, no doubt.
Thalassa pondered how to broach the subject, her mind flashing back to that day in Lysander’s office. He made her kneel at his feet, subjected her to his seething rage.
The suffocating memory flooded her chest and throat.
A sudden wave of nausea hit Thalassa, and she gagged.
She clamped a hand over her mouth, tears cascading down her cheeks.
Lysander was cold, cruel to her. And he loathed Bruce with a passion. Knowing her mom had history with Bruce only fueled that hate.
If Lysander ever found out what Bruce did to her mom, he’d probably revel in it rather than lift a finger to help.
Telling Lysander would only expose Evelyn’s shame, give him another reason to mock them. It wouldn’t solve a thing.
It would just make him despise her more, heap on the humiliation!
No, she couldn’t tell him. She had to rely on herself!
Come on, Thalassa, you can deal with Bruce and destroy that video!
Clutching at the collar of her shirt, Thalassa chewed on her thumbnail, her trembling heart slowly steeling itself.
Soon, the bus reached her stop.
Thalassa pulled herself together and got off.
She had to be all smiles in front of Evelyn, concealing any trace of suspicion. If Evelyn discovered that Bruce was using that video to threaten her, it would only add to her stress.
If Evelyn started thinking she was a burden, who knows what foolish thing she might do.
Thalassa shuddered at the thought and pushed it away. She had to stay strong, for both of them.
