Howard also nodded. “All right.”

Susan took the initiative and said, “Previously, Josiah and Lysanne were engaged, but then… a lot transpired, which was a significant shift for both families. However, life must go on. If Josiah and Lysanne. are not a good match, there’s no need to bind them with a marriage. Today, I invited Mr. Thorne here to serve as a witness to dissolve this engagement.”
Howard nodded. “That’s right.”

“She told me she agreed,” Howard said. “No one here is a stranger, so I see no need to beat around the bush. After what happened last time, Lyss lost her ability to become a mother. Susan said with a playful grin, “High heels aren’t good for your health. If you can avoid wearing them, you should. If you need him, just have him bend down to listen to you.”

Lysander’s phone chimed with a notification.
Daphne: What’s going on? Is this girl planning to marry Josiah?
Lysander: I really don’t know.
Daphne: Oh my god, Josiah has been closely associated with Riveron Corporation recently, even bypassing the Everhart family to collaborate directly with them. So this is the reason? Then what about the women he was with these few days?

Susan responded indifferently, “Ah, Lyss, you’re here. Have you eaten yet?”
“Ihave, Madam Susan.”
“That’s good. We have guests over today, so the dining room is simply too crowded. Since you’ve already caten, why don’t you head to the living room and enjoy some fruit? Our home is quite small, so you’ll still be able to hear the conversation.”
“Okay.”
Today, Lysanne was dressed quite modestly.
She was dressed in a high–necked, long–sleeved outfit, not a hint of skin exposed.
Lysander speculated that it must have been because the burn she had suffered previously had not fully healed, hence the need to keep it covered.
As Lysanne passed by the dining room, she glanced at Lysander once more, her gaze carrying a certain complexity.
However, it was Tiffany who took the initiative to stand up, greeting Lysanne, “Lyss.”
Her attitude toward Lysanne was somewhat unusually restrained, slightly awkward, and entirely unnatural.
Lysanne cracked a dry smile and said, “Tiff.”
“Lyss, 1…”
Josiah tugged at her sleeve, gesturing for her to sit down. “You haven’t done anything to wrong her, so what’s there to be afraid of? Sit down and eat.”
Tiffany poked at the ribs on her plate with her fork, still somewhat reserved.
“Everyone’s here, so I’ll begin,” Susan cleared her throat, “Lyss, you probably heard already, right? You should know why we’ve called you here today?”
Lysanne’s face was deathly pale’as she slowly nodded.
Susan, seeing her cooperation, felt somewhat satisfied. “Today, let’s make things clear with your father present. We all know how you got engaged to Josiah. But that’s all in the past, and I don’t want to bring it up again. However, Josiah now has new life plans, and we need to sever ties with the past. It’s good that Tiffany is here today, as she can witness it all so the will be no doubts in her heart in the future.”

Tiffany stood up again. With her head bowed and her eyes slightly reddened, she resembled a child who had done something wrong. “Lyss, I’m sorry. I’ve known about Jose’s feelings for you since we were kids. I never intended to get in the way.”
Josiah slightly furrowed his brows. Clearly, he was repulsed by the past events. He didn’t want to mention them, let alone hear about them.
Lysanne nodded. “I don’t blame you. I have but one request. I hope there’s someone who truly loves him, to accompany him throughout his life, so I must ask – do you genuinely love him?”
